just browsing on YouTube and came across this video
I’ve tried this technique and my figures still look like an 11 year old girls first attempt at applying makeup
Marion has been awarded Grand Master status as numerous shows in the US and Europe. Studying that video is one of the best ways to improve your figures, short of sitting down with her. She and her husband, Alan, are always willing to give advice to those of us at the lower end of the food chain in figure painting. For more of her work, check out her and Alan’s website: www.mb-miniatures.com/…/home.php
Hey James, thanks for posting this! Because of the length I didn’t watch it when you first posted but sitting here working alone on Labour Day I fired it up and glad I did. I can’t help but be knocked over by the quality of work by professional painters like her. And thanks for the link to her website Ajlafleche, lotsa stuff to get inspired by.
Interesting, I’d always started with the darkest shadow shade and worked my way up darker to lighter. I like how she’s doing things here though, think I’ll try working from the middle shade up and then back down on my next figure. Wouldn’t have thought about using violet as part of the shadow mix either!
Excellent video, seen it a while back and it’s an important bookmark for me. Thanks for the links guys. Terry
