Hello All,

Last weekend I was able to knock two fabulous aircraft museums off my bucket list; The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum was first on the list. This place just blows me away; when you’re driving up you can see the building, which is a large A Frame type building with all glass at either end, with this massive form dominating the interior. That’s the Spruce Goose. Photos just don’t do it justice; you’ve got to experience it firsthand.

Howard Hughes was a man before his time, one that envisioned a C5 Galaxy back in the 1930s…

Not only the Spruce Goose, they have a huge amount of planes and spacecraft. Here are a few of the photos I took:

Fantastic! I’m going to take the drive from Everett this week…AND…I GOTTA get to the Flying Heritage Collection…jeez - I WORK 100 yards from the place at Boeing’s Everett Modification Center where we’re working on the early 787’s to bring them up to current build standards…I can SEE the Heritage building from my desk - and I haven’t gone yet!!! Gah…and you can’t even see my lobotomy scars…

No way! When I got to FHC, I was looking at them sitting right on the other side of the fence. You have got to go!!!

I loved Evergreen when I went last spring! Did you go to Tillamook as well? It is a smaller and not well advertised air museum, but well worth your time!

Nice, thanks for sharing these. I knew that the Spruce Goose was big, but your photos give it perspective- that thang ain’t big, it is freakin’ HUGE.

Glad you got to go see these collections- I have yet to convince my GF that a day of aviation is day well spent.

I know they played heck towing that aircraft up the west coast wings off of course. Evergreen is a huge leasing company who also builds the Dreamlifter, DC-10 and 747 waterbombers and has a hand in alot of heavy lift companies.Erickson aircrane and Columbia helicopter aren’t too far away from there either…
