Ever been looking for that kit, and then find it?

This weekend, went to the Reynolds Museum in Wetaskiwin, great old cars and also the home of the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame… really great stuff, but the point is…
for the longest time Ive been trying to find a F101 Voodoo, and no luck, except for on Ebay, which the shipping would be crazy, and theyve been like $20-40 US, so I didnt bite. But there, in the gift shop, there it was, Revell 1/48 Voodoo!
And then, in calgary, I found another one! so I had to buy that too obviously[:D]
this can only mean one thing, of course… this kit is going to be reissued tomorrow morning LOL!

I remember when everyone was going crazy attemting to find thw revelogram B24J after it went out of production. I saw one poor soul pay $100.00 for one and it was reissued only one month later for somewhere in the $15.00 range. If that had been me, my wife would have shot me and then would have had me stuffed as a corner display… I keep searching yard sales and thrift shops in hope of finding my next dream kit. that would be the 1/48th JU188E.[2c]

…i’ve a penchant for either prototypes or very very early versions of WW II CBI theater aircraft (all combatants) in 48th…and until Accu.Min. there was no use lQQking for any mustangs earlier than a B…so, i kitbashed / converted a Monogram B to an A…
6 months work…and not 30 days after the roll out of my efforts…Accu. Min. releases their first 3…early model mustangs…gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr[banghead]
do ya think it would be any other way ? ? ? ? ?

The trouble I had finding a 1/48 Boomerang!!! Eventually had offers of about 6 or 7 from various people around the world. Why on earth doesn’t one of the mainstream manufacturers do one???

I was looking for a BAC TSR-2 for ages, then at one model show I found three; Contrail, Dynavector and Heritage - now I have three

I had been looking for an Aero 45 or 145 for over a decade (any scale) and had largely given up.

Not long after coming to the Czech Republic, I located a 1/72 kit of the 145 by A Model and a vac form canopy for it by Pavla.

Now, back to my regularly scheduled whimpering for a 1/32 Beech 17 Staggerwing.

Ouch, that one hurt because I had one on a box that didn’t look the greatest. My wife thought it was one of my “junk” kits and gave it to the neighbors boy when she was cleaning the basement.

At first I didn’t care, until a week later I started combing ebay and found that I could have financed my next years modeling budget from that one model.

I’m so glad they re-issued it, that way I no longer feel so bad.

Revellogram reissued the 102 just a while back & recently reissued the 106, so it’s likely just a matter of time before the 101 reappears. Sure wish some modern tool kits of the Century series would get released.

The 24th Airfix harrier was always top of my wish list, but at €75, a tad expensive.
I was surfing the other day and found several websites, one of them had a leaping heap for £20 + £6 p&p - I ordered it and it arrived today ( just over 3 working days from confirmation to delivery)

HEAR THAT HANNANTS
I ordered stuff from them nearly 3 weeks ago and it hasnt arrived (models for sale is even in the same half of the country as hannants).
I think its time to give hannants the old heave ho.

I do like the internet.

Best find I ever made was at a large yard sale. i picked up a really old Airfix 1/24 Mustang for 8$ Canadian, then 2 tables down, i got a Tamiya Me-109 and a Tamiya Mosquito for 5$ for the two of them.

I have always had a liking for the Dewoitine 510, but the only kit for this was the ancient Heller offering in 1/72, and recently the SMER re-release, I I really wanted one in 1/48.

However the other day, during one of my idle musing sessions on the net I typed in Dewoitine 510, and what should pop up but a kit by Fonderie Miniatures for this obscure type. I know its an FM kit, and therefore one should be careful what one wishes for, but what the hey…I didn’t think anyone even made one in 1/48!!!

Yeah, I’m still looking for the old Italeri 1/72 Do-217K-2… I hope someday I can purchase it… and I also want a decent 1/72 B-24J… the Airfix kit is really a disaster…

I’m hoping someone releases the DeHaviland Beaver in 1/48… seems like I saw one back inthe 80’s… built a 1/72 … but a 1/48 would be nice!

and as we speak here, I just did a search and HobbyCraft put it out! I’ve looked several times and this is the first I saw the 1/48… must be a re-release…

this topic must bring luck!!!

Probably be a while before the 1/48 Voodoo gets the reissue, it was last reissued in 1999 or 2000 so it wasn’t that far back.

Hobbycraft produced the Beaver and the Otter in1/48th. I can’t remember if it was the Otter or the Beaver the was issued with option to build as a float plane or seaplane. It can be hard to tell them apart since the look so much alike. Lately the thrift stores have been a bit bare in the model dept.

zeroenna,

Acadamy has the B-24D, B-24H, B-24J and the PB4Y-1 (with the ball nose turret) in 1/72nd. They’re very good kits and even though some of the kits are out of production, they seem to be readily available from web stores and are seen on a regular basis on E-Bay. BTW, the H & J kits contain all the turrets for both versions, the biggest difference being in the decals in the kits. So you can buy the H kit and build the J and use aftermarket decals.

Ok I’m throwing in my 2 bits
I just went on ebay recently and picked some old monogram kits of the Kingfisher, Devestator, wildcat and two other 70’s kits.
I already have 30 year old ones on my shelf but had to have more.

Heck for ten bucks, why pay 30 at squadron for the same repo.
