i have 2 109’s waiting for AM cockpits to arrive and i cant wait to delve off into the world of german cammo!!! looks very nice there matrixone. what scale is the kubelwagon? it looks excellent as well. later.
The Kubelwagon is from the Tamiya kit, it is the best fitting kit I have ever made and I had fun building it. Two figures are included but I have not painted them yet.
These two 109s are old builds and not very good by todays standards but they are standing in as photography subjects until newer models are built, I took these pictures so I could get more experience with my camera and new photo editing software.
There is a lot to learn about photographing models so I take a lot of pictures to find out what works and what does not.
I have been trying to get my photos to look like 1945 era photography, it is going to take some more practice to get it right but when I do it will be a great way to remember old models long after they are replaced by the new builds.
I now have a few Hasegawa Bf 109s and Tamiya Fw 190s that are on the build pile, when some of these are built they will make the pictures look much better.
Some of my older unbuilt kits will be built as battle damaged or crashed aircraft to add to the background of some of my pictures.
Trying to age the color pictures to make them look like the WWII era photos is difficult to do, these last two pics are the best I have been able to do so far.
Thanks for looking at my photo experiments!
In a couple weeks I will try some more pics.
I don’t like posting pictures of the same aircraft over and over again but I am right in the middle of building a new airplane hanger for my photobase and my work table is very crowded at this time so my new models will have to wait. My older models built years ago are all I have to use for my photos.
The more practice I get taking pictures the quicker I will learn what works the best for taking realistic pictures of my models.
hey matrixone, when you say you are photo editing, what software are you using? are you scaling down the vehicles? you never did answer me on the scale of the kubel wagon. thats cool. a love the above photo, very nice. i too am learning a little about photography. the pic below is my favorite of the recent model i finished. i probably took 50 shots of this bird and deleted all but 10 or so. later.
its fun to learn though aint it? i get just as much enjoyment photographing the finished bird as i do building them.LOL. this is a great hobby and this is a great forum to be able to share and use ideas and such. thanks for sharing. later.
saltydog, sorry I forgot to tell you the scale of that Kubelwagon, it is 1/48. The photo editing software I am using is Photoshop Elements 2.0, I just bought it two weeks ago and know very little about it so far, I have only used it three times now. There is much to learn yet! Taking pictures of these models is a new way to have some fun with them after they are built, otherwise they sit on shelves collecting dust.
That is a great looking Mustang you have there, the lighting in your picture really makes it look sharp!
Pixilater, thanks to your suggestions about ageing my pictures I have learned much more quickly about altering my photos to make them more realistic. I will continue experimenting with my photo editing software to further fine tune my photos, but better built models are really the key to making realistic photos and I will be working on that soon.
