[?]the qestion i have for all you folks,is how do i open the cargo areas of these choppers to see all the detail work in side.there must be a way to do it,? can aneone help me to this .all help wood be great.thanks guys. roy.

Hi Roy,

I recommend getting a brand new set of quality hobby knives and remove the doors the old fashioned way by scribing over and over again until the piece comes off. Don’t try to seperate it on the first pass, just keep going and you’ll get the results you’re looking for, with minimal (light sanding) clean-up of the edges. Then, reference interior photos, get out your spares box and build it up until it looks like the pictures.

I’ve cut a lot of plastic up that way and at some point during the modification process you’ll look at it and think to yourself; “What the _ _ _ _ have I done here!!??!!” Just keep it in your mind how good the finished product’s going to look and stay with it.

Good luck!!

Take care,

Frank

[:)] oldhooker, thanks for the advise, that was the only i can think to that,? should i do that befor i put the two haves togher or should i do it when the kit is finished? and i dont have a spares box for heilos. thanks again for your help.[:)] roy.

You need to do any cutting and modifying before the model is done. I usually do it before I even start building. I cut the doors open on a BO-117 a while ago. It was pretty easy. You will have to do a little sratch-building on the hinges and attachment points.

Good luck.

Roy,

Like Gino said, all cutting and alterations should be done before assembly, if possible. I don’t know your experience level, but in any case, extreme care should be used when working with hobby knives in this manner because it only takes a micro second to be in against the bone! OUCH!

Also, I don’t have a “helo” spares box either. My box/es have everything from submarine to funny-car parts mixed in; Just carve & whittle & sand until the piece/s looks like what you want them to. Oh yeah, get a tube of Filler Putty also. [;)]

Take care, good luck,

Frank
