This is a question that keeps bugging me. If some women don’t like a man who models, then what is something us men don’t like to see women doing? Shoe shopping? Gardening?
How many times can I vote for shoe/clothing shopping!? When it comes to that stuff, I replace things that have worn out… women seem to do it recreationally!

Women don’t understand why men model. There are a number of reasons why one might want to get into plastic models:
- One does not live on a farm that has its own smithy / forgery, so metal work is out of the question.
- One does not live on a farm with a wood shop, so extensive wood works is out of the question.
- One does not own or work in a garage or other workshop, so motors, cars and hotrods are out of the question.
- Models is one of very few areas where men are socially ‘allowed’ to get into colors, aestethics and anatomy. Try and discuss any of those with a stranger, and see what kinds of pidgeonholes you end up in, in their minds.
- Models is a hands-on manifestation of an interest in motors, history and/or military, which lots of women don’t agree with.
- A lot of people who used to serve in some service think it is a significant part of their background, that they not necessarily want to let go of just like that.
Somebody here has a tagline along the lines ‘if she don’t find you handsome, let her find you handy’. The truth is that the handy men are an endangered species. Boys no longer learn the traditional handy crafts, like carpentry or metal work. Models is some kind of lifeline for men who have ‘the itch’ to be handy, but not the oportunity. Don’t be surprised if she thinks something like ‘Why does he spend all that time with some plastic? Why not do something useful, like renovating the living room?’
Women don’t understand what modeling is all about. No one like what they do not understand. Women don’t like modeling.

That attitude is unacceptable. A deal breaker. I understand the question so I’ll answer in a minute, but if she doesn’t like modeling, what’s next? Not liking borderline behaviors like drinking or smoking is one thing, or spending too much money, but modeling? More than one friend of mine has observed that it keeps him out of bars.[whstl]
I don’t like to see women watching tv. In my experience they watch the worst crap. Sports, no. The news, hardly. Documentaries, rarely. Sitcoms, Oprah, talk shows, game shows, all the time.

My wife does counted cross stich and reads (and buys) lots of books. Works out well for us both as she can be upstairs doing her sewing and I’m in the hole building away. After 10 years of marriage it seems to be working. By the way, I (jokingly) told her I was going to use some of the tax refund to buy the Trumpeter 1/16 King Tiger and she said, " well it’s your money, have fun dear". Great wife. So understanding. I don’t think I will though, I have two of the T-34s to build still. Oh yeah, she dislikes clothes shopping, only goes shopping when she absolutly has too. Wonderful.

High maintenance women find it harder to understand this hobby than practical ones.
It is a good hobby that requires many skills including patience. My new gal understands the hobby and does not mind coming home to the kitchen table transformed into a model construction site. The Ex thought I should have a shed in the woods for model building. If you value your time spent building models your significant other must appreciate its merits and realize there are many other interests far worse for a guy to spend a few bucks and hours doing.
Similar female interests? Crafts, scrap booking, sewing, painting, pottery, figure painting (check out figures painted in Russia by females) gardening and other creative outlets.
Its all in the eye of the beholder as to the value of the hobby. If its creative and enjoyable its time well spent.[2cnts]

Simple solution; find a woman who models. Talk to Dupes, … or look for someone like this …
Forget scale modeling; this is where modeling is at… [:)]
Or, tolerate and be supportive of each others interests whether that be building a Panther AusfA or planting Petunias in the garden. To each their own. And it should go both ways.

On august 24, 2009 I ran into Elisha Cuthbert at a local grocery story in Sundre Alberta. It took a day or so to sink in as I never recognized her in the store. That being said I guess I did find or at least see someone that looks like this…
