Im starting the EE Lightning . Does anyone know any web sources for reference?

Have you tried using Google? A search on BAC Lightning yields a great deal of information and images. Others have also posted their Lightning builds on this forum…use the forum Search feature or just scroll through the pages.Visit your public library…there you might find some good books with the references you need…search under aircraft, airplanes, RAF, Cold War…all apply to this subject. Visit the online retailer, search their catalogs. Again search for BAC Lightning and most will show you every product they stock relating to the subject…kits, decals…BOOKS.

Some of us old schoolers find doing the research as much fun as the build. We learn more in the process about not just the subject we are researching but other things as well. Maybe it is time for some informational blog post and magazine article be written to teach this skill set.

The internet has a vast amount of information but weeding through all the junk to get to the 1 picture or tidbit you want is often not worth the hours of staring at the screen. Sometimes it’s very worth it. I usually find it much better to go to my bookshelf, pull out a book, flip to a page and boom! there is what I need. I can take the book to the bench and keep working or even read whyle I build. I can’t do that with this huge fossile of a computer I have. So just in case you are interested a very good book on the subject is English Electric Lightning by Martin W. Bowman published by The Crowood Press in 1997 and 2005. ISBN 1 86126 737-1. 16.99 pounds, or if you must about 30$ [swg] Cheers!

You might also try searching on English Electric Lightning. English Electric were the company who developed and built the early versions of the Lightning. They merged with Vickers, Hunting and Bristol to form BAC in 1960.

That’s why I do an “image” search. Images only on Google… voila. Usually hundreds upon thousands of pictures will come up…
