Been a while since I posted anything, the eye problem as given me a set back, it seems I will not be able to wear Contact anymore - THATS SUCKS BIG TIME, still fighting the red eye, can wear them a about 10-12 hours at most, so as soon as the eyes get clears I have to have glasses made ewww.
Ever try working on a P/E with cross eyed I got a friend trying to help me a few days a week. Be glad when this is over. IT seems that EVEN when you are trying to “zoom” in on something you are putting pressure on the small capilaries in the eyeball and that causes aggrevation to the condition.
Sorry to hear about your setback. Hope things clear up soon. Don’t worry about the glasses. I’ve been wearing them for years and it doesn’t bother me a bit. Hell, people who AREN"T old wear glasses too. What does scare was a family gathering where my father and all my uncles had hearing aids.Now that’s getting old.
…On the hearing aids. I’ve got them already. One good thing was because of Hurricane Katrina, the analog style I used had gotten wet in the various rescue attempts and such. I was able to explain to FEMA that because of the damage from the salt water made them non-repairable AND because I was required to stay as essential personnel, that had to replace them. The new digital style are great, although, I do get “tender ear” about twice a year because of the increase in the close system.
I gave up on contacts years and years ago. While useful for sports, otherwise they were a vanity thing. I was always having problems with irritation and infections. Never “looked” back, LOL
I’ve been doing what Bing Crosby called “playing trombone” for awhile now. Its a pain losing the ability to focus on things up close. Just not up to my bifocals now, the prescription is just a little strong for me.
A question, was it a policy to put Nelson’s orders on the wheels of ships produced after Trafalgar? I see that it is on the wheel of the HMS Beagle, and just wondered about its application on other British warships.
Big Jake - I have Marquardt’s “Anatomy of the Ship - HMS Beagle” and on page 29 there is a photograph of one of PG King’s sketches showing the poop and the wheel has the quote on it. King was a midshipmen on the Beagle, but the sketches came from memory 60 years later.
