I don’t know if this is pertaining to this subject, or someone already submitted this question.
What do you do with all your empty model boxes, either you throw it away or stored it, and if you stored it what for?
For me space is a limited commodity.
I’m curious to your respond.
Some I use to store left-over parts in, and for decal sheets and such, but I mostly just throw them away. I know a guy who cuts out the artwork and frames them. Looks pretty good, too.
I usually toss them. Have to make room to buy new kits.[:D]
I use them to store old kit boxes…
[:p]
Well, judging by the trend on evilBay, the darn things are selling for a few bucks each, so I think I’ll just finance my addicition to 1:48 early jest this way…

I save the boxes for many of the same reasons
already mentioned. And just think in 20 years, they
will be very nostagic…Hey you paid for all that box
work, you might as well save it. Anyway, sometimes
there are decent reference photos there as well.
Mine sit atop my cabinet…oh well

I usually just throw mine away… but if there’s some cool box art I’ll cut it out and store it away.
Recycle
gotta make new boxes for more new kits - save a few trees to boot.
Actually, I usually keep them; not the box itself entirely, but I normally take the really detailed box art and cut them out to use for reference pics for future builds…
Most get tossed but I do keep the odd boxtop for the boxart.
I also use some to store aftermarket fixins; brass resin and such. Somehow I wound up with enough fixins to detail more P-51s than North American made and they’re all in a Hasegawa 48th P-51 box…
Fade to Black…
I keep mine also. The box art on most is pretty good and maybe some day they’ll be worth a little bit. I’ve got plenty of storage and don’t have that many empty boxes yet. I’m a pack rat too, so it’s hard for me to throw them away.
If I like the box art … I trim it out and save it … the rest of the box gets tossed. [swg]
[#ditto]
I cut off the box art and put it under a glass plate on my workbench.
Boxes get recycled to make room for more.
I keep all the boxes, but mostly I just cut out the front and sometimes the sides(with pics).
Cheers,
Jürgen
Recycle - don’t have enough room as it is.
Pretty much, “D, all of the above!” I keep a few of appropriate sizes for storage of miscellaneous pieces and parts, cut the artwork out of those of interest to me nd throw the rest away.

I cut out the box top art and then put it behind the model in the display case, but the viewer is not permitted to see the ugly cardboard back
I’ve been struggling along since my oft-mentioned fire using flimsy model boxes for spares, decal sheets, etc. Then I found a bunch of home first aid kit boxes for some of these things, but those aren’t as easy to come by. Then I started using those Danish butter cookie tins for storing paint. Finally, last week, I found a tobacco shop around the corner with just what I wanted and have always used: cigar boxes, especially the wooden ones. I picked up a dozen of them for free.
As for model boxes, since they now come in all kinds, and qualities, who know? You have some of the short run kits that come in small corrugated boxes with folding lids, and I keep them. As for the flimsies, such as Tamigawa and Revellogram, I toss them. It’s not like you can rely on box art to be especially accurate as a reference source, unless it’s got a photo on it. And, let’s face, these boxes aren’t made to hold anything heavier than four or five sprues of plastic parts. And they aren’t designed to be reused.
