EF-2000 Typhoon

Has anybody here ever made the Eurofighter Typhoon (EF-2000)?
I need some assistance with color scheme (especially the cockpit).
And maybe you know who produces the decals with Typhoon logo (looks like red whirlpool).

Dont know about the decals[?]

A Few years back, Italeri produced a series of Eurofighter models and I know that their 1/48 scale kit of the single seater does have the red wirlpool logo you speak of on it

Hope that helps

I have built the italieri 1/72 kit and it came with the markings you speak of including national insignia for UK/German and Italian aircraft. The same applies to the 1/48 kit which lies unbuilt in my workshop. However, all the colour schemes for each country were experimental.
I have been waiting to find out the RAF’s choice of colour scheme for it’s first operational squadrons and the first Typhoon delivered to the RAF was featured in RAF News. I do have a copy but can’t find right now! As far as I can remember it was a gloss finish light gray ,very close to Humbrol 127: US ghost gray on top and barley grey on the underside. Other more striking schemes include an all gloss black version flown by BAE systems and a red/white one flown by DARPA. Photo’s of these have appeared in Airforces Monthly and should be able to find them on their site:
www.airforcesmonthly.com
I also have some walkaround shots of the german prototype if you need them.
As for the cockpit [:p] (at last!!) I’ve seen it on tv and the consoles, seat, sticks and throttle are all black. The LCD screens emit bright green/blue light.
Eduard do a nice little detail set for the 1/48 version including coloured paper for those LCD screens! Sorry to go on-I hope some of this helps!

hi,with regards to RAF markings,17(f)squadron(my old tornado squadron while in bfg)is the new oe unit.for colours, look in the 2003 raf yearbook(there is a great framable print of the jet in 17(f) markings(www.rafa.org.uk is the rafa site, you should be able to get copies from there)
with regards to the office, the italeri kit only has decals &,as the twin tub is more viewable,a after market set is needed!
also, the mod has decided that no guns are on the raf jets(another cost cutting exercise for the bean counters, still,if theres a war, lets hope the aircrew dont need a gun!
for pics of ejection seats, look up “martin baker . com”
good luck on the typhoon!

Are you talking about twin-seat kit? My single-seat one doesn’t include them.

Thank you very much.
But It’s too complicated for me to mix proper paints to match a color from the photo. [:I]
Maybe somebody, who already had painted this model, knows the names of arilyc colors (I use Tamiya and Testors) for the following:

  • cockpit interiour (with seat )
  • landing gears (with bays)
  • engine nozzles (exhausts)

for a RAF coluors, stick with the colours used on the tornado F3(they are standardised;barley grey;humbrol 167 & med sea grey:humbrol 165,barley grey normally on lower surfaces)
i done my 2 seat 1/48 in 17(f)sqn mrkings with a black spine & tail s a “what if” model before i was announced.it looks good,or how about a all gloss black jet, many RAF trainers & display jets use that scheme

sorry, hit the wrong key!anyway, seat is black,(check out "martin baker.com"for seat details, exhausts are like any other new jet, cockpit is light grey & the landing gear is the same colour.all pylons have red warning triangles on both sides, rear of chaff pod is copper(starboard wingtip)

Sorry to be a late. But mine EF-2000 should be a German DA-1 aircraft #98-29:

Hi, everyone!

Anybody get there hands on the new 1/48 Revell Eufrofighter Typhoon released last June 19? I’m dying for some feedback.

Joel

I got one yesterday and have to say that it’s pretty magnificent. Beautiful decal sheet with about 7 options, loads of weapons and a nice detailed cockpit. All for £14.99. An absolute bargain!
