I recently completed an Eduard La-7 in 1/48. It was a weekend edition kit, and I had a color zoom set to detail the cockpit. The kit went together very well with good, clear instructions. I went with the kit provided decals. As with the weekend edition kits, that was one option. It is a late war version. The cowling and tail were painted white to ease the application of the red finish coat. The cowl was painted ant the tail is the kit decal. I did have to mix a little red to fill in seams left at the points where the decals met at the front and rear of the tail plane. Otherwise the decals sat down very well and reacted well to Micro Set. Upper and lower surfaces are Model Masters airbrushed. I dirtied her up just a little bit. Overall this was a nice kit to build, and looks pretty good in the middle of my small Russian stable. Rick
Because I’m 99% certain the ones that came with the Yak are carryovers from the old Gavia kit. Thick and awful, nothing like the cartograf-printed beauties that came with the Eduard 109E-7 Trop (which, short of Wingnut Wings decals, are probably the best I’ve ever used).
