Eduard Hellcat finished

Hot off the bench! Eduards 1/48 Hellcat. The kit is pretty simple, comes with PE and masks that actually fit perfectly!!! The only issue with this kit is the decals. They’re Cartograph, but not much better than Academy’s decals. I soaked them at least 30 times (for real!!! No exaggeration) with micro-sol, and still had to run a fingernail over them, to push them down into the panel lines…BOOOOOOOOO!

I finished it with MM enamels, wash, and some pastels. Marked as “Gadget”, Lt. Alexander Vraciu’s plane from VF-6, USS Intrepid. I went OOB, only replacing the PE harness with Tamiya tape, but used the PE hardware. I also modified the seat backet.

On to #18 for the year!!! 1/72 Hasegawa Frances.

man thats sweet, ive seen your stuff @ kalamazoo and you do some really good work. im still trying to fade my colors like you and get that sun bleached effect thats hard to do and waaay easy to “overdo”.

Darnit, another masterpiece!!! This why I hesitate to post photos of my poor efforts.

Beautiful job. [:D[

A very under-appreciated bird IMO. Looks just fine. I really dig Hellcats and yours is s a winner.

Thanks guys![t$t]

Some assy. Will you be at K-zoo again this year?

You can get tips and critiques if you post you stuff. Help us to better help you![;)]

Thanks. I’ve got “Maus” WIP over at the Odd Animals GB and I’ve signed up for the Panzer III GB that starts in July.

Very impressed with the cockpit detail. How you manage to do all the belt harnass buckels, etc is beyond me.

Darn fermis, that looks great!! I really like the fact it is mostly OTB, the finish is spot on and it’s a Hellcat. Been looking to pick one up myself, is this the F3 or F5?

very nice! I have one of the Eduard Hellcats in my stash, I hope to get to it one day.

Very nice Fermis. I’ve got both the Royal Hellcat and the RAF Dual Combo in my stash. That’s 4 cats in two boxes! I’ll have to practice alot to get mine as good as yours.

Another beauty Fermis! Many thumbs up!

Thanks again, my brothers![t$t]

It’s a " -3". Kit has markings for 5 aircraft, and you get 3 cowl options. I’d recommend A/M decals on this kit though.[N] Unless you own stock in micro-sol!!!

looks great! I have the same thing on the bench right now…now if only I had time to finish it!

Justin

Beautiful job… you got the fading on the upper surface just right… surprised at the decal troubles. I thought they went down well with just one application of Micro Sol… you built the Royal Class Kit right?

(mmh… new entry on the blackbook : eduard’s decals are bad things too… book updated)

at least perfect cat fermis!

Very nice looking build. I’m very jealous as I started this same model back in April 2009 and still it sits on my bench.

Isn’t that the MOFO who shot down six Judys in one mission? I think there is a famous pic of him flashing six kills w/ his fingers after landing…

Ahhhh…here we go!!! Same plane markings and everything!!!

Looks awesome as usual! I am always amazed at the quality of your build and the short time you work on them. I swear you are a factory!

Nice built fermis! I really like the paint job. The decals look ok to me. I’m also building a Hellcat, the Hasegawa kit and I am on the finishing stage already. Thanks for sharing.

Nice work Fermis. As always, love the camo, markings, and weathering work. Your detail work is always top notch. I’m feeling that there is more cabinet work in your future. By the way, when is the Kalamazoo air show and do they have a line up yet. The Mt. Comfort air show (Indianapolis) is May 14 and 15. They seem to move it up every year. It sounds like they have a decent lineup of warbirds, but I don’t think they will get a lot of great aircraft this early in the season. Rick.
