I was browsing my stash the other night and realized I’ve never built a 190. There are at least five in there that are in the decaling stage that I got from my dad after his passing, and I assuredly will be finishing them. Anyhow, I ran across an Eduard A-5 for <$20 on Squadron and had the old lady buy it for my fathers day gift along with some other goodies. Haven’t tackled and Eduard kit yet even though I have a Hellcat laying around. Anyone have any ideas about what I can expect as far as building experience? i.e…pain…smooth…hobby killer…lol
I have yet to build one myself but am looking at one of the D9 or D11 kits. I have yet to hear a negative comment though. In looking at kits they look very nice in the bags.
They do look nice. I love the Eduard website because they have a lot of pictures of built up kits.
I built the A6 variant. Only problem was with the gun mounts under the cowling. If you mount all the bracing, the guns don’t fit correctly and you can’t close the cowling. Thankfully, I had planned on displaying her, fully open.

WOW Gigatron, that’s an offensively nice looking build! [:|]
I’ve never built an Eduard kit either - but really would like to one day. I’ve heard that some Eduard’s are really well detailed - Gigatron, did all that detail come in the kit, or have you scratch built a lot?
Chris.
Wow! Gigatron, is this an OOB? Fantasic! FWs are my favorite german fighters.
Fred is correct. In fact, if you plan to keep the cowl buttoned up I would leave the engine out all together. The fit of the cowl around the engine will surely make you loose your hair.
Super 190 Fred.
I have the A-5 and A-8 kits. A friend of mine gave up on one and gave it away. I suspect that he likely assembled something wrong. H esaid it was over engineered and unbuildable. The pictures prove it can be built.[proplr][proplr]
I’ve read on some reviews about the problem with the cowling if you want to close it. I intend to do it closed, so I have no problem leaving stuff out. I generally don’t mess with engines and whatnot. That is one fab looking bird you have there. They sure do build up nice.
That is one sweet build!
Gorgeous 190 Gigatron.
Thanks, guys [H]
Everything is included in the kit, minus the aerial and the cowling support cables.
I’ll admit, the kits are a bit over-engineered, but far from unbuildable. The strange thing is all the extra parts that come included in the kit. Eudard tends to design kits for future variants and includes everything in one box. You just have to be careful that you’re using the correct part number, from the correct sprue.
