Thought I’d post a few pictures of my finished FW190 A-8 which I built for Franks Reich Defender III GB.
Built OOB although I replaced the wing cannon with some steel tube, paints are Gunze aqueous which are always a pleasure to use, had ago with some artists oils for a filter, worked best over a gloss finish for me.
Blue ‘8’ was abandoned at Herdla in Norway so not strictly “Reich Defender” but I really liked the scheme.
Still need the aerial, tried once but wasn’t happy so will come back to it.
Sweet, very nice looking bird!! I just picked up the weekend edition of this kit myself. How did the build go for you? I am hoping to open it all the way up since this thing has a full engine and all.
Hey guys thanks so much for all the positive comments.
Manny your correct it is from JG5, they flew some nice looking aircraft in some mighty odd conditions.
Jester if you take your time then it all fits pretty well, can be a little vague in areas but just do lots of trial fitting, I think posing it with all the cowls open will ease a lot of issues.
Zapme, I didn’t alter the colours on this occasion, just a mixture of pre-shading and playing around with oil paints and various washes for panel lines etc, I was really pleased with how the oil paints worked and will use them again.
Wing-nut I did wonder if I’d bitten off more than I could chew with this one especially getting the closed cowl to fit over the engine, was worth the effort though.
