Eduard Albatros D-V "Weekend Edition" Weekend #7 - PICS

Here’s where I’ve gotten too in Weekend #7. Just about ready to start the rigging. Comments welcome.

Sweet!! [tup] Excellent work all around! The woodgrain fuselage is especially well done.

What do you plan to use for your rigging materials?

I typically use 0.004" stainless steel wire. In another thread (with a question about WWI rigging) I put a couple of my recently finished WWI a/c so you can see how the wire rigging turns out. I’ll post the rugged Albatros when completed oevr this holiday.

I forgot to mention that the woodgrain fuselage is Aeromaster decal sheet. I made paper templates for each panel and then cut the decal sections to match. I was dubious at first but it worked out pretty well.

So far so god man!I like the look of the lozange camo, and the wood efect is well done too.

I have a 1/72 Supermarine walrus waiting for me to build but I stink rigging models so maybe if when you finish with the Albatross I get encouraged to start with the damm thing hehehe

best regards

Jeremias

I’m in the middle of rigging at the moment. I just came down from the shop to let a couple of additional pieces dry in place. My biggest problem with rigging is trying to go too fast. So I just walk away for a while after I get a few pieces into place. I’m not one to drill holes in the wings for rigging. I use straight pieces of stainless steel wire (0.004") and attach them with small droplets of Testor’s cement for clear plastic. When you go back and touch up the droplets with black paint they give a reasonable impression of the turnbuckles in 1/48 scale. Most of the rigging is done and I should finish later this afternoon with any luck (that’s if I don’t throw the thing against a wall of course.)
