Edmontosaurus WIP

Time for another dinosaur build and this time my first attempt at a resin kit :

Pinned the beast and now ready to start filling some gaps.

For hiding seams on dinosaurs, I use this stuff called “Repliscale”:

Works great.

I love dinosaur models. Please keep us posted.

I’ve heard about Repliscale before and I’m interested in trying it out. When I built my Dilophosaurus, I did a similar thing but I used Super Sculpey to make the texture stamp. It was a bit tricky as the Sculpey sets rock hard, so Repliscale might do the job better

Those seams look nasty! Good luck fixing them and making it match the rest of the skin.

On another note… heh, edmontonsaurus, I thought you had like, the city of edmonton as a diosaur or something

Nice job on your other dinos, too (I peeked at your Completed gallery  ). I like what you did with the Dilophosaur, correcting Spielberg’s mistaken modifications. Crichton accurately described the animal, in terms of its size, in the novel, and they were probably related to, or at least members of, the line that gave rise to Allosaurus.

And I loved seeing the old Pyro/Life-Like/now Lindberg Corythosaurus done up with care. I built that when I was in first grade or so, when those were top-of-the-line for dinosaurs. It really takes me back. And that model was an improvement on the earlier ones in the series, like the grinning Tyrannosaur, with smooth skin, big lips, egg-shaped head, and a tiny caveman throwing a rock at him.

Most excellent, can’t wait to see how your duckbill turns out!

Regards,

Brad

Update :

Finally back to working on this beauty! Finished filling and returning the skin details the other day and spent today doing some painting.

The base will be a simple river scene where the beast has been drinking from, so I plan to add some water effects coming from it’s mouth too.
