The previous version version of the Republic of Korea Air Force (South Korea) roundel featured a red and blue yin-yang symbol with a white separator, sat on US-style bars in red and blue. (I believe this originated as a paint-over of the existing insignia on aircraft transferred from US service.)
The difficulty I’m having is with the edging. In some pictures, decals and other sources the edging is shown in the existing blue; while in other pictures, decals and various sources the edging is PURPLE.

Does anyone know the history of this? Were both used? (I’m almost positive I’ve seen pictures of both.) If so, what is the timing or reason for using one or the other? Or is there some mistake?
As an aside, the ROKAF roundel is now a red and blue yin-yang with no edging and a thin white separator, with three black bars floating on each side:
