Well here is the first shots of my Tiger 1 MID PRO. I have been taking my time with this one since it was 45 bucks and i really want it to come out right. So here we go …oh and yes thats a aluminum barrel on there from Jordi Rubio ($8.25) [:)]
Also i really do not want to attempt Zimmerit on this model since it would be my first time and i do NOT want to mess it up…so this will be a winter washed Russian front tank…i will give the full details later on when i can remember them…lol
You’ve got a good clean build going there Horus. Keep it up. If you want zimmerit on the model just get some sheet styrene and practice on it while you’re building that one up and you might be proficient by the time the model’s ready!! You get the practice in that way and don’t ruin a model. [:D]
Horus,
So far, so good! I like the aftermarket barrel (Rubio?), and the build looks very clean. One recommendation, since you are still in the early assembly phase: Unless you’ve got an engine in your kit, you might want to consider taking some sheet styrene, painting it flat black, and glueing it to the underside of you engine vent openings. It will keep your tank from looking like a toy when complete. The same is true for the hatches. If you don’t have an interior, and want to leave the hatches open, stick a figure in 'em; otherwise, close the hatches. I’ve looked at absolutely gorgeous tanks (is gorgeous in a tank possible?), but was disappointed when I looked down a hatch or engine vent only to find bare plastic. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys and Gip np man happens to me all the time
I like that idea for the engine vents and all, altho i did plan on keeping the hatches closed on this one:)
erush,
thanks for the tip man i may have to do that. Now can someone explaine to me how to do a winter wash??
thanks guys i will keep you all posted, one thing i did notice about this model, especially after adding the barrel is that the turret spins way to easily…lol.
I am going to have to make a shim of some sort to make the turret a bit more stable.
Hey Horus. I haven’t read the replies to your post, so I hope I am not rehasshing something someone else said.
First I love the build. Very clean, and Rubio’s barrels are awesome. Just make sure you get some PE Grills over the engine covers.
Second. If you are to attempt zimmerit, I would recommend in the future that you do it before you assemble the hull and turret. This makes applying the zimmerit much easier, and reduces the chance of mishandling.
Very nice job indeed! I can’t wait to see your next set.
Is this the Tamiya Mid? I’ve got one on the way. (If it ever gets here.)
Exactly which Rubio barrel is it? It really looks nice. I put a Rubio on the pz II I did, but I don’t think it was very accurate. It was stepped and I believe the original was tapered. I may go nuts on mine and put a Verlinden engine kit in it, but I like the “black-out” idea.
DEAKON,
Not really it’s ok but after you smooth it out and all it could end up looking oval, hence why i went with the Rubio barrel. Also watch out for the Headlight assembly, very fragile.
GRRRRR…ok disaster…i dropped the base today, and the Exaust tops, broke off and vanished into the abyss called my room!
I am very upset right now and i may just stop all together, i am no where good enought to scratch build something this small and detailed
Hey Dave … you have to quit throwing your model parts on the floor !!!
Blame it on the cat like the rest of us modellers do.
Now which part is it you’re missing ? E-mail me a scan of the page that the directions show this part on and I’ll see what I have in my parts box. Might just have something that will meet your needs.
Did I mention anything about shooting the cat yet ?
