dragon’s initial tiger is looking awesome, but one problem, its a very early model…is there any way to make it into a later early virsion?
I am betting Tiger takes care of that for you. The already have a Late scheduled and an Early can’t be far behind
Late early version? Dragon has the 3-1 kit which should cover that for you I’d think. Maybe I misunderstood the question.
Well, the new Tiger (not the late 3-in-1) is a very, very early production, a.k.a. the initial production. I want to build a early production, like one seen in 1943 around kursk. get my drift.
you would need to replace the pistol port on the turret with a hatch. The 3-1 also comes with an odd side turret bin and one that looks like a Pz III bin, so unless they have a 3rd option, you need a new bin too (hopefully part of the 3-1). Those are the ones that come to mind without seeing the kit.
I guess without seeing what’s in the kit, I’m a little in the dark. Yes the rear stowage bin is an obvious change. Sorry I’m of no help.
to make it a later tiger you will have to chage the bin on the back if it has the smaller bin also there are smaller changes that you will have to do. i get alot of my stuff for the tiger from a company called tiger model design they make all the mantels and turrets for the kits (mostly tamiya and academy) there is also a book i picked up that seems to help out alot and thats the modelers guide to the tiger tank. they go over all the different designs of the tank over the years.

hmmm ok Here goes. Replace Feifel filters, initial have a 2 chamber type, early has a one chamber type.
Replace exhaust shrouds, initial has a squared type, early has a curved type.
Right hand pistol port on the turret should be changed to an escape hatch.
Different drive sprocket hub.
Depending on exactly which initial production version we are talking about, you would also have to replace the front fenders.
As the others said, new turret bin.
Probably a new mantlet as well.
Tool arangement on the hull roof is different.
Add a periscope for the loader on the turret ( again depending on how early you want it )
