EAA F-86 on Post: What Model & Do You Have Pics?

Adjacent to the highway is an F-86 jet mounted on a post in front of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh, WI – what model F-86 is that?

Any pictures of the thing mounted there?

Anyone know the precise angle it’s attached at?

This is for a back-burner idea for a diorama of it.

I don’t have a really good one, but I could get your several if needed…like I need an excuse to go take pictures of aircraft. I will be in Oshkosh for sure on the third Tuesday of the month for our IPMS Chapter meeting. Otherwise we’ll probably go down to visit our new grandson this weekend.

I actually tried to get some photos of this aircraft last weekend when I drove by. I wasn’t driving, but we were passing a semi so I couldn’t get a good shot. It was dark when we went by it on the way home. [sigh]

Several times a month, of late, I drive past the place. Only it’s late evening when it’s really dark.

And wasn’t the plane located elsewhere on the grounds before it’s current location?

Yes it was part of the collection. There are several other jets that were donated by the Combat Jets Museum of Houston many years ago that seem to be languishing away…A-4, Mig 21, F-104 plus a couple others I can’t remember…I took pictures of this past Airventure.

I don’t mean to sound snobish, but I just so happen to be friends with the Poberezney’s, (EAA WI founder). I’ll send an email and see what I kind find out for you - wait one

One of our club members is employed there as one of the directors [#toast] One of our members retired as curator…now living in Pensocola. :stuck_out_tongue: LOL
