E-2 Hawkeye

I was watching an old episode of JAG and saw what I thought was an E-2 flying with no radome. It wasn’t a C-2. I thought it would make an interesting model. Has anyone out there ever seen an E-2 flying without a radome.

I always thought the airframe of the E-2 & C-2 were the same. Looks the same to me:

Top: C-2 Bottom E-2

Similar, but one eats better!

I know right? My post didn’t quite come out as intended. How I intended it was to say, up until I looked at them side by side, I never thought there was a difference to the airframe, but obviously there is. Maybe the E-2 is a modified C-2.

The airframes are essentially the same. The C-2 is a derivative of the E-2.The body of the C-2 is wider and obviously with out the radome and with a stubbier nose. The wings and engines are the same as the E-2.

Was there ever a version of the TE-2A without the radome?

I don’t remember one off the top of my head, but, as soon as I say there “never was one”, it will turn out that there were at least two airframes, lol. After all, Grumman built a version of the E-1 without a radome for aerodynamic trials.
