Started this just to pass the time. This is two nights work. Still have some gaps to fill in the rear plate. Using parts from Dragons Panther G night fighter kit for the exhaust. I have a question related to this. Were the Germans developing any new camo patterns when the war ended? The size of this kit just begs for that special camo pattern.
THATS AWESOME!!! I had ssome similar in mind for paint. I like the detail youve added from different Panzer kits. Mine is heading for the night fighter treatment. I will post some more pics tonight when I can get to my camera. Im curious Where exactly is the gunners site on that massive turret? I dont recall seeing MG barrels in the kit. Where did you get yours?
Thanks, Doog! Your E-100 is fantastic, and the weathering is outstanding. Very realistic! I chose to keep mine on the clean side, as I usually do with armor builds. I like 'em dusty, but not muddy. Yours looks perfect, though!
I’ve got the new Trumpeter E-100 in the stash, and with all this talk of Entwicklung recently, I might have to break it out and take another stab at the big E!
Thanks, Modelbuilder! Glad you liked it. Did you get a look at Doog’s excellent build, too? You can probably learn a lot more from his than from mine!
The gunners sight is in the big conical thing on the left side of the forward turret roof area, in front of the commander’s cupola and one of the episcopes.
I added all the machine guns you see on my build, since as you said the kit doesn’t supply any. I really don’t recall where they came from, other than my spares box! The guns on the turret sides were metal, as I recall (and after doing more research, I realized they shouldn’t be there at all. Still, they look kinda cool!). The gun to the left of the main 128mm cannon is a resin 20mm machine cannon I got from somewhere, in place of the regular machine gun which I believe is supposed to be there (That’s not the gun sight aperture in the case of the Maus/E-100).
Hope that answers some of your questions! Looking forward to seeing your progress.
