Its 20 years or so that I did some modelling and this is a first new attempt to restart with the hobby. A Dutch soldier (ice skater) falling through the ice around 1939. I hope you like it, but I would also like to hear your comments of how I can improve the next time. I see a lot of things which can be better on this 54mm figure, like shading, etc… Also, it might have been better to have him sunk more deeper in the ice. O yes, the water inside the hole will need to have a more grey/blue color which I still will do when its dry.
Very nice work, Johan - the only thing that strikes me is that with the trees so close to him, it’s hard to see any facial expression he might have (panic?). I understand that he’s very close to land, but still, it will be hard for anyone seeing it in person to see the front of the figure. There’s nothing wrong with the layout - it’s just that the nature of the scenario makes it hard to see him. But two thumbs up for the quality of work and the originality of the scene!
About the helmet : I made the figure 20 years ago but is was badly painted. I removed all the paint and started again… so I can’t remember if I did something special with the helmet
Thanks for the comments on the setup. Its true, you cannot see easily his facial expression (he is trying to do his best to get on land), … mmm… perhaps I should turn him 45 degrees clockwise , that might improve things !
