Duke Maddog's Mista-Progress. (DOH!) Lot's of Pics!

Well, there’s been quite a few postings of big scale Armor lately, so I thought I’d help Frosty represent the Braille Scale crowd some more! [:D]

I’m starting off today with pics of my mistake (DOH!) I found when I went to put on the decals for my 1/72 scale Revell/Germany Leopard 2A5: The smoke dischargers were too far forward! [#oops][B)]

I found this after I’d already applied the Future to decal my Leopard; that’s why it appears shiny in these photos.

So, at the risk of ruining a pretty good job so far, I took my X-acto blade and cut off the smoke dischargers. Here you can see that there was not too much damage, as indicated by the arrow:

These next two shots show each side of my turret with the smoke dischargers next to it, so you can see that they came off pretty well:

Now, I got them remounted properly, (according to the directions) and re-painted. These shots were taken after I re-applied the Future again:

Now on to my other Project that has been giving me fits like only an ACE kit can! These are photos of my ACE 1/72 scale Sa 13 Gopher mobile SAM vehicle.

This is how my Gopher was looking up to this point:

This next photo shows something that went right. The arrow indicates where I glued a clear plastic part cut from a blister pack behind the window frame for the ‘Gunner’ and then applied the assembly to the main launcher assembly:

It went on so well and looks good! Too bad I don’t have a bust of a Russian gunner to put behind it! Maybe I’ll try to find one…

The next photo shows where there were fit problems mounting the upper hull to the lower hull. They were mostly along one side and at the top of the back panel. A little gap-filling CA and some sanding helped seal them up. The arrows show where the most noticeable gaps were.

The right-hand gap is actually hidden by the SAM launcher in this photo. You can see where I had to sand it by the white areas that the arrows are pointing to.

Now, I was able to get a little more progress done on the Matchbox 1/72 scale Monty’s Caravan Scout car. Here it is after I assembled the wheels and painted it:

I just recently got photos of the interior of Monty’s Caravan so now I’m getting the supplies I need to scratchbuild the interior furnishings! I can’t wait! [:D][:D]

My 1/72 scale Revell/Germany Spahpanzer Luchs is coming along slowly due to the intricacy of the undercarriage, but I did take some time to paint a basecoat on my completed turret:

The rest of the kits are coming along as well. I didn’t take photos of them because I’ve only clearcoated them with Future so they are simply shinier than the last photos I took. The Warrior may be some time before I complete it though; I seem to have lost the decal sheet! [B)][:I]

As for my Bradley, I still haven’t heard any response to the E-mail I sent to Revell/Germany about the broken Bushmaster. It looks like I’m going to have to buy a new kit just for the stinkin’ gun! [banghead][censored][censored][:(!][:(!][:(!]

Well, I hope you like my work. I thought I’d be done sooner than this but I have been more than unusually busy this month.

Looks good. Frosty should be happy to have some more models in the braille scale.

Yup I think Frosty will be proud. Looks like you have over the problems nicely.

ummm…wow.

joe

Your vehicles are looking great…maddog.

Regards, Dan

that scout car has to be miniscule!
exactly what supplies would you require to do the interior?
styrene molecules? actual atoms ?

nice work, Duke Maddog.

very very tiny builds. Again, considering the size, the paintjob on the Leopard is even more unbelievable. I can’t wait to see the hull, and ultimately finished model.

That is a lot of progress!
Good work, Mista!

I like the arrows in the pix, too.

Lol! Thanks guys! Yeah, I need a few atoms to form into a couple pieces of furniture for the interior of the caravan. I’m on the lookout for some suitable atoms as we speak! Wildwilliam, I’ll place the scout car next to a no. 11 X-acto blade when it’s done to show you the size later! [;)]

Zokissima, I should be done in a few days so I hope you’ll be okay til then! [:D]

Thanks J-hulk! That means alot coming from a modeler of your caliber! And the Mista-- ways a cut-off of Mistakes, because I’d made a few this time around! Maybe that is because I’ve had to take a much longer time to build them , so I’m noticing them more. But anyway, this Mista thanks ya! [;)][8D] I’ll have more done this weekend (maybe) if I have time between the Dragon Expo and a few other things.

Duke,

After you’ve paid the opthomologist, (replace eyeballs), and the plastic surgeon,(replace fingers with micro tweezers), and the psychiatrist, ( medication for nerves), is 1/72 really worth it?

Good Show on the microscopic work dude!

Steve

Duke’s in tha house… representing fulltime !
very nice work, as always, Comrade ! [tup][tup]
good recovery on the Leopard, glad it was fixable !
& maybe those ACE kits were a way of making sure proletariat stayed out of trouble, u r 2 busy w/ putty & sanding ! [;)]

is 1/72 worth it, crockett ? well, i think so…
less expensive 2 buy & more room 2 display,
plus decent choice of subjects & commonality of scale between a/c & vehicles, and i haven’t had to replace my eyeballs yet… just my optivisor ! [:D]

frosty[:)]

Ah…there it goes again. Sweet little beauties from Duke’s factory. How do you build them so fast? And they look good, too.

[#ditto] Indeed they do.

Lol! Actually, I still have my same, original Mk I eyeballs and the same fat fingers I was born with, only they’re fatter now. I can’t play my guitar anymore! [V]

And Psychiatrist? What’s that? The medicine I take for nerves is Jack Daniel’s Ol’ No.7 Black Label! [^][^][^]

As for is it worth it? Yeah, I think so, but I prefer to let my models speak for themselves! [;)]

Thanks alot Steve for your comments and I’m glad you’re enjoying my work!

Thanks also Frosty for your support as well! That means something from the Braille Scale Scratchbuilding Queen! [:D][:D]

Although, those Proletariats who made that last ACE kit screwed up somehow, so now I’ll have to fix a small disaster. It may take some time, but I’ll have pictures of it in my next post.

Thanks to everyone else who’ve offered great comments as well. They are what keep me motivated to build on!

so small , niiiiiiccceeeee keep them coming
