DS Track question

can i use testors plastic cement (blue tube) or CA glue to join the tracks on dragons tiger I late? i know it sounds dumb but everything i read on it seems kind of fuzzy to me. thanks

DS tracks are designed to be able to be glued with conventional modelling cements, so yes, either should do the job.

thanks, since i really don’t know what they are made of i didn’t know if certain glues wouldn’t work

Just be aware that the Testor’s blue tube glue is “non-toxic” and has a longer drying time vs. regular styrene glue. If you’ve got the tracks under any sort of tension, they may not set properly.

i have one more question, will they take Tamiya Rattle Can paint good?

Man, I’d use some Tenax R-7 and clamp the track joints for 5 minutes to solidify the joint!

Hi Seth, if you havent already glued your tracks depending on which idler wheel you used they may need shortening, if you used the large one they will fit ok if you used the small one then the tracks will need two links removing and this is best done before they are glued, i used testors liquid cement to glue mine without any problem at all. Heres a great link for this info about this and much other stuff.

This has a lot to do with DS tracks. Talk about your backhanded thread hijacking…

they are glued on and fit fine (i used the blue tube and had no problems), i just need to know if they take Rattle can paint ok, so when i give the tank the black i will also hit the tracks then mask them off when i use Dk yellow.

Biffa: i have been reading your old build log like crazy for this kit, lol

thanks for your help guys [:D][tup] i was real curious about these things at first

LOL!..Gee Wizz…sorry Mr. Crockett…sir[:)]

When I built the T-34 and the Maus, I used Krylon Ultra Flat black for a primer/base color, and there were no problems. There was considerable bending involved when they were being installed, and there was never any flaking. Rattle can paint will work fine on them.

I used CA on mine and had no problems. Also used Tamiya and Testors rattlecans flat black to prime.

I’m hoping that there will be glue girls there as well!

I kid the nine toe’d tankmeister! All in jest mate, one good smart a%@ retort deserves another![bow]

I really wasn’t backhanding the P2, I even built one myself. I really think the kid did a good job. You should have seen the ruckus over on (that other armor model site) when some poor guy posted one…phew!
