Drybrush Help

Hey guys. Just curious what size brush you use to highlight weld lines, steps, handles, etc. I tried to use a big brush and ended up with paint where i didn’t want it. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Try using a brush about the size you’d paint the item with it you freehand painted it.

Hey Jason - if you are attempting to drybrush the highlights, then you probably just had too much paint left in your brush. For drybrushing I usually use a bursh that is 3/8" wide. After loading your brush, be sure to scrub it on a piece of course cardboard to remove 99% of the paint. Then proceed to your model.

Thanks guys. Both tips should work great. It was my first attempt. Maybe a little patience would help also.

Ditto What Sherm said and Patience does help…Drybrushing is easy once you learn just how much paint not to have on your brush!

I usually stick with a smaller tip but thats just what I got used to. It is all in the amount of paint that leave on the brush. Practice on something like an old kit to get the hang of it better.

I found that drybrushing works better for me if I only drybrush on matte finishes and have my brush drier than I initially think it should be. The difference for me was night and day.
