Dragon Tracks on my SdKfz 251/1

Hi all, just finished making the tracks for my half track. My God, how do you guys do it? I have a syndrome now called ‘Track builders neck’ where i have been scooched over the blighters. I got it down to assembling 5 links at a time. I must admit i was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the mouldings, of the whole kit really. Im sure i will have it together in the next 48hrs and will post some pics of my efforts. Sorry for this meaningless post lol. But it feels like a big deal to me to get the tracks finished lol.

Hey, we’ve all been there…these tracks are kits in thier own standing. The sense of pride and accomplishment is real…that’s why we model.

Congrats

AMEN!

Ive done the same for my 251/17, and I think that even though it took a long time, in the end it will look much better than rubber band tracks.

The links are meant to be workable, so I’ve found that the best bet is to assemble them in pairs first, making sure to get the track blocks secure and pointed all in the right direction. Then it’s a matter of slowly daisy-chaining them together (pairs into fours, fours into eights, etc.) until you have the runs together. I usually have two glass bowls, one to hold the links and one to hold the blocks, and do the clean-up on them first when removing from the sprues so that the assembly process can proceed without interruption. Last but not least, I make sure I’ve got at least 1 hour of open time available to work on them. [:D] They are well worth it in the end as they are one of the few organically supplied workable track sets in any styrene kits on the market.

German halftrack tracks are always a bit of a challenge, but they look like loads of fun in comparison to indy Sherman tracks…[:(!]

I have yet to assemble the tracks for my DML 251 but I have built some for thier Firefly. Man, what a nightmare. I know the 251 tracks are alot smaller but multiply them by about 5 for the Firefly. But I must say that even though they are quite a pain, they sure do look good!!!
