Dragon Stug III F Mods

I realize that Dragon put bolt heads on the top of the Stug and they are suppose to be screws. I have removed the bolt heads and now need to put the screws in their place. Now the question, what size of cutter do you use to make the screw heads with? It might seem like an unlikly question but when you have been away for the modeling hobby for as long as I have you need all the help you can get.

Thanks,

James

Not trying to be flip about this…but the size should be the same as the bolt heads you removed. So the size of the cutter should be whatever size is required to replicate that but sunk-in…A better option though might be to look into PE screw heads, I believe Lion Roar makes a set? That way all you’d have to do is drill out a depression then insert and voila! screw heads instead of bolts.

Actually, they are bolts…if you are talking aout the “bolted-on” armor that was added to early model Mk III’s, Mk IV’s and StuG’s (like the F8)…IMO, you should have let them be…

MR,

He’s talking about the roof plates on the superstructure, not the additional armor plates to the hull or front superstructure. These plates were secured by flush screws, not raised bolts. [;)]

ahhhhhh…got 'ya…

Thanks for the info. Aber in fact makes PE Screwheads, now the only problem is finding it. Great Models is a special order and the last special order I had from them wound up cancelled.

It is the bolt heads on the top that Dragon put there that need to be shaved off. If I can find the right size needle, I use that

Again thanks for teh help.

Jim

No problem Jim, hope you find what you need soon!

Hi Jim,

LuckyModel have the Aber screw heads in stock, as well as a range of screw heads by LionRoar

Replacing bolts with screws in 1/35th?

Hard core, man! HARD CORE!! [;)]
