question re what looks like extra plastic on either edge of each link for the tracks-- should that be there or should it be trimmed – sorry if this sounds vague, but if u have built the kit, you’ll know what i mean–also , this is my 1st tank done in acrylic–will i need to protect the paint when i apply the wash ?(artist oil & turpenoid)
Given the disclaimer that I don’t own the Dragon Panther and therefore don’t know exactly to what you are referring, my guess would be that it is not flash. I suspect that you are talking about the little angled projection that kind of almost wraps under the pin. On a model it does almost look like flash, but if you look at a couple of the detail photos from the link supplied by T26, you can see it is actually present on real Panther tracks.
Which kit is it? I have the Dragon kit number 6164 Panther D, 52nd Battalion, 39th Panzer Regiment, Kursk Offensive, July 1943. The track links in my kit look pretty normal and standard. Can you provide a better description of the tracks or a photo?
I checked the one I built some years back and see no flash. The only possible problem that you will have is if you have not cleanly cut the connection of the individual link from the sprue. In that case some sanding maybe required.
its the same one-- the link that T26 provided was perfect , the little ‘wing’ on the edge of each track link is visible on one of the pictures-- hey crockett, where did you get that crew for your Panther? --Great looking model BTW
also want to re iterate my question on washing an acrylic finish w/ turpenoid & artist oils— will I need to put a future coat on first?
