Dragon 6208/Tamiya 35164 KingTiger questions

I’m considering purchasing the Dragon 6208 KingTiger but can’t find any reviews of that specific kit. Does the kit come with a metal barrel? Magic tracks? What decal options (what units/tanks can I build?)

The Tamiya 35164 kit questions are: What decal (unit/theater) options and ease of build?

Any input & info is appriciated.

Thanks

The Tamiya Kit will be easier to build but compromises some details, and the skirt armor is awful, way too thick. I’d go with Dragon.

Hermesiniatures-thanks for the info.

I just built one dragons kingtigers mine came with a metal barrel, magic traks, and decals for three companies of tanks.

If you’re looking specifically at Dragon #6208, http://www.dragonmodelsltd.com/html/6208-p1.htm

  • Molded barrel (not metal)
  • Indy links, but not Magic Tracks
  • sPzAbt 501, Ardennes 1944/sPzAbt 505, Russia 1944
  • Includes photoetched mesh engine screens

I have the Dragon King Tiger with the Porsche turret and it comes with the aluminum or plastic barrel, magic tracks and PE fret. This is my first armor kit and it’s going together nicely. Tom

Yeti, Phil & Modelhead-many thanks.

Just getting back into modelling and bought one of these kits from a friend. I’ve never dealt with the individual link tracks. Egad, it looks like a nightmare. Any tips or tricks?
