Dragon 1:72 T34/76 model 1940 completed

Been working on this 1:72 Dragon kit for a few weeks now. Kit went together really well but let down by the earlier Vinyl tracks rather than the DS tracks that Dragon’s later releases have which I replaced with some DS tracks

Still, it should be a nice addition to my Soviet line-up.

I replaced the barrel with a very fine turned aluminium one.

We have been been very busy with our baby grand daughter, but I progressed further with the T34-76. My usual mix of Vallejo followed by variousoil filters and oil washes. I lightened the russian green base colour with yellow ochre to impart some tonal differences.

Very sharp looking little guy there. I think I have that in the pile. May have to pull that out now.

Ditto that it looks great! Good detail on these small kits from Dragon. I’m in the process of a 1/72nd halftrack and when I can get to it, it has been an enjoyable kit to work on.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. This kit has been a beaut build so far and I have attempted with success several new weathering methods that I wanted to try.

Saying that would have successfully attempting new weathering techniques with photos is cruel… twisted… DEMENTED!.

Finally finished this little T34-76 and took some quick snaps to share.

I will take some better ones once I find some time to set up my photo area.

Figure is a Preiser Soviet tank crewman and the 44gal drums are self cast resin mastered from spares.

I must say that your T-34 in 1/72 scale is a thing of beauty,I to am starting a small stash of these braille scale wonders. Now if me eyeballs just hold out long enough to get them built.LOL[Y][Y]

Good job on the initial production T34/76!

The display base is eye catching and works well for the time frame and environment this tank served.

Was the barrel AM or did you turn it yourself? I do using a variable speed 3/8" B+D drill & finger nail sanding boards.

I actually buy the barrels AM. They are only around AU$1.50 or so, so the cost is pretty negligible.

Tis a thing of beauty. The whole thing is top notch. The Preiser 1/72 figures are great aren’t they?

Is the fence real wood? If so how did you weather it? Looks perfect. I am trying to weather some wood now and just not getting it quite right…

It is AM laser cut wood fencing which I painted a Vallejo grey shade . I think it was basalt grey but the exact shade eludes me currently. Then I used Citadel Babab black wash to bring out detail.

I added more fastener holes and even added some remnant bent nails.

The Preiser figures are the best of a very small market for 1:72, though the range is growing.

Very nice Mike! Vehicle and base are both very well done. The figure is nice too - what color did you use for his uniform?

I used Vallejo Model Air French Blue as a base, then lightened the blue with increasing amounts of light grey for highlights. I used a blue wash from Citadel for shadows.

Somehow I missed this one in January, but I’m glad to have seen it now, because your work is very nice! I like 1:72 a lot. My Patton is getting Preiser figures too! Keep ‘em comin’ and have a nice day

Came out really very nice Mike! The base/groundwork and the figure add wonderfully to this composition and all in 1/72nd scale too! WOW!
