Might any of you chaps have the home address of the gentleman that designed the landing gear for the Dragon 1/32 scale P-51D kit? I’m giving serious thought to killing his first born…
Most of the time the “novelty” of moving parts just isn’t worth the headaches! “KISS” , Keep It Simple Stupid! And I’m the worst for trying to make some things “work”! I’ve got a set of working 1/24th scale P-51 struts I made of brass with internal spring and used the lower plastic gear fork and upper scissors attachment on them. The plastic scissors were too brittle and broke. Would need to fabricate brass ones. One of these years!
LOL…man…that big P-51 really does seem to be quite the turkey, doesn’t it?
Better off to stick with the 1/48th AM, Hasegawa or Tamiya offerings…less stress.
My opinion exactly.
Leave out the springs and glue them solid. The springs wont give without breaking the brake lines anyway. Save yourself the headache.
Well, i already put the springs in. but they’re no match for super glue. sucker is fixed good and solid. I like the overall fit of the kit and some of the details are pretty good. All in all, for a 1/32 scale it’s fairly decent bang for the buck. I think i’ll save some $$ and build a trumpeter dauntless for my next 1/32 (love the detail at that size) beyond that it’s back to 1/48 for a while i think ![]()
