Dragon 1/144 Panzer Korps 31

I purchased the Dragon 1/144 Panzer Korps kit #31 for the Pz.Aufkl.38(t) w/7.5cm Kw.K. It also comes with a Jagdpanzer IV L/70 late production kit that I won’t build. I was wondering if anyone purchased the kit numbered 29 or even 32, with the other 38(t) based tanks in it and would like to trade the Hetzer or Flammpanzer for the Jagdpanzer IV L/70 late production? I would just buy the kit myself, but I would rather not have 2 of these tanks just sitting around, never to be built. If anyone is interested, please drop me an e-mail at:

Thanks!

I’ve built a few of these kits (Bradley and Sturmtiger). They are big fun in a small package. With some fancy paint and good decal work, you can get a fairly show worthy kit.

I don’t need the L/70 though. I too am a collector of 38(t)s.

Never mind about any trades. I got impatient, and I went out and bought more. And I have decided to build the others, too, since I don’t have much time on my very few days off a month (2-4) to build anything involved, these are great ways to keep working in the hobby without making a huge mess that will upset my wife when I leave. I build in the livng room on TV trays for the most part, and she calls my hobby “the bane of her existence.” But it keeps me off the streets, at home and out of the bars, so she can’t complain too loudly!

I have 3 of these kits done now (38(t), Beobachterwagen and the 38(t) prototype with the Panzer IV main gun and open turret). You can probably tell from my description of them that I am not a big armor modeller. I just know what I like, and the 38(t) is it! Now, I wonder if they could make the Polish TKS in this scale? As if my eyes aren’t bad enough…

Hey I bought one of these kits but can’t figure the way to glue and paint them. I know that sounds really “noob”, but do you have to use superglue and enamels? (I generally work with only acrylics) Can one of you guys give me advice?

As far as I know, there isn’t a TKS. There isn’t any Polish armor that I know of in 1/144. There are several gaps they need to fill. WWII German isn’t one of them. A locomotive and somr soft skins would be about it. They need some WW2 Allied stuff.

I’ve done a few of these kits, doog, and used regular model cement (Testors), and super glue for the PE parts. I imagine acrylic paints would work OK. I’ve used regular enamels and had no problems.

To paint these kits, I use enamals, then I weather with enamels and acrylics. The tracks aren’t the easiest, because the paint may flake off of them some, but just touch up after they are put on. I usually paint the tracks flat black, and then slip them on and weather them and do any touch-up. I have noticed that my weathering has produced some very SILVER areas on the tracks that just don’t look right. I am trying right now to paint the tracks Tamiya gunmetal for the base coat, then a 50/50 water/black Testors Acrylic for the next shade, and see where that gets me. I am homing that the metallic in the gunmetal will show through just a little to give it a worn paint look.

With these kits, it is best to use acrylic paints only. I wouldn’t even weather the tracks with oil based stuff. They just don’t like oil based paint. Otherwise, these are great kits.
