Double Jugs in 1/48th (Tamiya P-47D and Monogram P-47N)

Beautiful work Gamera. Nice job on rigging that R-2800 too

Joe

Very nice builds Clemens, dose the fin filet come with the D kit? I need that for my dad’s D, I could take a look in the box but I’m lazy [:)]

John

I didn’t build them, so don’t praise me for those nice Thunderbolts (I think you just forgot the dot between my name and the comment on the Jugs) [;)]

The fin fillet doesn’t come with the kit on the Tamiya D-model, but I think Cliff used their M-model which comes with the fillet as far as i know.

Clemens

Gary, Lon, Joe, and John: Hey thanks guys!!!

John: Yeah the fin fillet doesn’t come with the Tamiya P-47D but I added one from a Hasegawa P-47D. It fit like a glove.

Clemens: Thanks for jumping in there and helping!

No problem, Cliff! How is the Hasegawa Jug? I’ll stick to my Tamiya Models regarding this plane, but in case i want one with a fin fillet… As you know already, I have their big Thunderbolt in my stash ready for the NMF GB. That one is constructed almost exactly like the Tamiya model…

Clemens

That’s ok, I think I can get hold of one from the Hasegawa kit, so that’s good news, even better if it fits well too, happy days! [:)]

John

The 1/48th Hasegawa P-47 is a great kit, the Tamiya one is just a smidgeon better. If the Tamiya kit is a perfect 10 then the Hasegawa is about a 9 - not quite so good but nothing to sneeze at. I’d go Tamiya since they’re often priced the same but sometimes you can find the Hasegawa one at a good sale price and it is worth picking up.

John: I just cemented the two parts of the Hasegawa fillet together and slipped it on the tail of the Tamiya kit- it fit perfectly, no muss no fuss!

Thank you for the info. Is it possible that the Tamiya and the Hasegawa kit share at least the fuselage engineering? Just curious because the Hasegawa parts fit that good…

Hmmm, not sure if you could interchange any other parts between them without some work. The fillet just sits on top of the fuselage with a slot on the back that fits over the fin. Pretty simple part really, it would probably fit the 1/48th Monogram kit too.

That’s good news about the fillet, I’ll have to get started on it!
