This is my first completed build of the 2010 season. Monorgam’s Dornier Do335 Arrow in 1/48.

Like all the “old school” Monogram kits, this one was a fun build. I chose to do it in the V-10 Night Fighter variant.

The paint work is as follows: The underside is PollyScale RLM65 Light Blue acrylic, the main color on the upper surface is PS Dark Ghost Grey acrylic, both applied with a Testors 1x6mm flat brush, a very effective little tool for covering large areas. The “camo” is PS Dark Gull Gret acrylic applied in a straight down tap with a 3/8 flat brush moving randomly back and forth the surfaces.

The engines are molded into the left fuselage half, not separate assemblies. It took 4 7gram wheel weights in the nose for it to sit right on the front wheel.

I was somewhat worried about the decals because of the age of the kit, but other than requiring a bit extended time in the water dish, they actually went on OK.

The two crew figures were included in the kit, a fine little touch that Monogram always provided “back in the day”.

The base is one that you see on the model aisle at Hobby Lobby, IMEX model #2514 which works well for 1/48 and 1/72 aeroplanes as well as 1/35 armor.

I do like the Do335 - and your paint job is awesome! Makes me want to go out and buy the kit now…

Great build, I still can’t believe that is brush painted.

Just picked that one up. It is nice to see some of these kits being re-popped. They are just good fun to build.

I always liked the lines of the two-seater version of the Arrow… You did a great job on a real classic… Just one critique if I may, and that’s that the ground crewmen should be wearing the black coveralls rather than grey…

Thanks for the heads up on the uniforms. The box photos had them wearing more of a blue color and since I didn’t have anything that looked close, I mixed a 3:1 of ModelMaster Intermediate Blue enamel and MM Flat Black enamel.
