Dornier Do 335 Finished (At Last)

I dont know if any of you remember (Or Care lol) But i did a few WIP pics of my Do335. Well I would have posted it ages ago but had a few probs etc etc. Any ways, here she is. She is a Tamiya kit with Aires wheel wells, engine and cockpit.

All comments Good and bad appreciated.

Looks good…I like the Sun hitting it, …The Arrow at Dawn, (or Dusk).

The engine and wheel bays look very good. How hard was the installation of the Aires parts?

Luftwoller that is officially very weird looking…I being mostly an armor guy have no idea what that thing is - an actual production aircraft? Or was it just a prototype? [D)]

The build however looks quite good. The level of detail in your gear bays - well let’s just say that mine stay firmly seated on the landing gear for a reason. [:D] Nice decal work, too…much better than how mine tend to turn out.

Did you do the “sludge wash” in the panel lines, or a different method?

I was wondering when you were gonna finish that one up. Nice job. Worth the wait.

And yes dupes… that was a real a/c.

Well worth the wait, Guy! Great rendition of what one the coolest birds of it’s era. The underside weathering and panel wash is exceptionally nice.

My only criticism is you need to wash your windows.[:-^]

Excellent job on what I’ve always considered to be a beautiful aircraft

Nice work on a nice kit. The choice of background for most of the pics however… [:)].

Regards, Rick

Very nice work on the Phiel. The after market engine and gear bays really turned out well.

Wow thx guys. Too kind.

Hartmann, Marc, Gordon, Darwin. Thx fellas.

Arki, the Aires resin stuff is generally spot on. The wheel wells needed a fair bit of sanding/notching to get them right. Also you cant have the bomb bay open using them as they intrude slightly. The engines are a work of art in themselves.

Lycraman, The 335 was allegedly the fastest piston engined plane of the war. I dont think many of them saw service. They were cool though. They were one of the first production planes to be fitted wqith an ejector seat. The rear prop wasnt a problem when ejecting as explosive bolts blew this away 1st. The panel lines were done with the sludge wash method. I like it as its very easy to get reasonable results, and if you make a proper lash up you can always rub them off and start again lol.

Your Highness, what can i say. Someone nicked the window washing guys ladder. What do you reckon to the Brown/ green splinter? I quite like it compared to the usuall colours.

RICK, Sorry about the Background pics. I was trying to catch the last of the rays and the only place i could find any was the porch. If the weather turns nice on my next day off, ill take a couple more in the garden.

Super nice! That is really a good looking build. Nice all around- and 1000 bonus Ninja points for the unusual subject! [:)]

Looks nice. I have that Tamiya 335 kit too, just haven’t done it yet.

Nice work the detail in the wheel wells and engines looks great.

That is OUTSTANDING Guy! Sure puts mine to shame. Seriously, very well done, glad to see her finished!

Guy, what paints did you use. They are much more subdued than the colors I’ve tried for the Do-335, as called for in the Monogram German Color book. I like it. I put the other colors on an old Lindberg 335 I was practicing on and it sort of looks like the cat got sick on it. Did I do something wrong?

nice work luftwoller. I agree with the others the wheel wells came out excellent. I like your choice of camo. Looks like 81/82 in a late war all over splinter. I’d say you got it perfect.

The Brown/green works well. They are within the realm of reality, especially had the war continued and the Pfeils were used over a longer period.

Good thing for us this powerful fighter was not in operation during the Allied bombing earlier in the war. Top notch build. Very impressive assembly and paint quality. The work on the canopy is also a standout job. What is your technique for canopy painting?

Thanks for showing

Excellent, but why does that aicraft has two propeller, one at the back and a another at the front? also why is there a plexy glass cage around the model?

Love the engine and camo!

Always one of my favorites. Looks fantastic. Great work!
