hiya… here is the finished piece after receiving suggestions about using Future to simulate clear doped clothe and wood panelling on this bi-plane. Model is by Eduard 1/48 scale.
jgeratic, that is just a gorgeous job on the Albatross. And those are great clear pictures too. What scale is this in? And from a kit, scratchbuilt, what? again just beautifull work.

Great looking bird. The technique really paid off. Just a beautiful build.

hi everyone … thanks for the kind compliments - much appreciated!
Woody … the help I received from the members here can be found at this thread: http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7237&SearchTerms=dope,clear
ardy299 … your questions can be answered as well by going to the above thread - I also added a length of brass wire to replicate the pipe leading from the engine to the rad in the upper wing
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! [:D]
How did you simulate the wood grain on the fuselage? I am assuming you drew the panel lines?
hi mgtaylor … wood grain was drawn with pencil crayon (2 shades of brown) and the panel lines were made to stand out via the wash technique
Very Very Beautiful…Wife Loved it as did I she especially liked the wood grain detail…do you think that technique would work well for a boat deck?
Thanks,
Chris
Yes, I think the wood grain technique I applied should work for a boat deck or any other surface you are trying to imitate as wood. Just look at some examples (either pics or actual wood) to get an idea of some patterns. Also remember not to carry over the line work from one panel to another, or in your case the deck planks. Good luck!
