I finally finished Accurate Miniatures’ 1/48 B-25B Mitchell “Dooittle Raider.” I say “finally” because my computer has been targeted by hackers. My new McAfee firewall is blocking about 100 attempted intrusions a day.
It was built using Eduard’s PE detail set and Squadron vac canopies. I used Model Master Olive Drab on the topsides, and WEM Colourcoats Neutral Gray underneath. I tried something a bit different for the washes this time. Rather than mix the base enamel colors with flat black enamel, I mixed them with Ivory Black instead.
I used the kit decals (decals for all 16 Raiders are included in the kit) for the “Ruptured Duck,” which was featured in “30 Seconds over Tokyo.” The 64th anniversary of the raid is the 18th of this month. This is my tribute to those brave crews.
Beautiful work once again Pix.
Thanks for sharing that my friend.
If you want to keep hackers out get a hardware firewall like a LinkSys router and it will make your ports appear invisible to those seeking them.
Nice Mitchell. One question, where do you store and display all of these works? If I were ever lucky to be as skilled as you I would have them in a climate controlled vault (LOL[:)])!
Thank you very much rrmelend, Mike, LemonJello, LivingLegend, Domi, Wulf, Jerry, Joe, and Joe !
Mike - I’m using a McAfee firewall (it’s provided free by my ISP, Comcast), and I’m getting a TON of attempted intrusions every day. Some days, it’s more than 100. In the 45 minutes I’ve spent online this morning, my firewall has blocked 47 (and counting) attempts. The firewall allows me to report and trace the activity. Most take a ping-pong route across the country or across the globe, with IPs assigned to corporations and universities (I imagine these are forged). I have nothing worth stealing, so they must be using my computer as a “mail box” for some type of illegal activity. B******s !
Joe - I have my builds displayed in bookcases, a built-in hutch, and atop my speaker cabinets. I can have about 100 1/48 builds displayed. It’s almost time to buy a couple more bookcases, though.
You continue to outdo yourself with each build! Simply astounding! I truly look forward to seeing each step in your builds, and I thank you for sharing with us all!
Sorry to hear about the hackers. you might also want to consider using Symantec’s Norton Internet Security, it is an outstanding program with many levels of protection built in.
Great looking bird, Pix. You can see why that made the Japanese so nervious. Nothing like having your citizens look up and see US Army on the planes bombing them to make your claims of we can’t be reached doubtful. Please by more bookshelves. More room means more planes.
Really nice work Pix. Flawless paint work. I noticed a slight tonal variation on all the control surfaces. Was that normal or have you done that as a highlighting exercise?
