Can anyone suggest some sources for Accurate Minitures’ B-25B Mitchell, kit number 3430, 1/48 scale. This is the Doolittle version. There must be some web sites that deal with kits that are out of production.

Yeah, ditto Hobby Lobby… The one here and the one in Des Moines is still carrying it, so I’d imagine that the central warehouse is still shipping them…
They (HL) typically only keep one or two kits on hand… They usually order kits on Tuesdays and get the deliveries the following Thursday… If you have one nearby, I’d stop in and check, and if you can’t find it, find the guy or gal that runs that section and ask them about it…
You can order direct from Accurate Miniatures website. They might have some in stock. Last time I checked their website, it didn’t say the B was OOP, of course that was a couple months ago. The only AM B-25 OOP is the G model, according to their website.
Still hard to believe they actually flew those off the carrier. It just goes to show what can be done with hard work and a little imagination. It was the Hornet they flew off wasn’t it?

Yes, they flew off of the hornet! They trained here in South Carolina. Recently they pulled one out of Lake Murray that is being restored. I saw a model of one in the local airport; and I am trying to find one! So far it seems that all stock has dried up.

I just checked their website yesterday. The B-25B is listed as Out of Stock and the G model is still listed as Out of Production. There is hope. I was looking to one as well. If I find some on my search I will be sure to post it here for you.
Italeri has a 48th B-25 (C/D), don’t know how much difference there is between that and the B. MSRP is a whopping $101…NUTS!!!
I got my A/M B-25B at a vendor table for $20. If you have a local contest in the near future, that would be a great place to find one, along with a bunch of other goodies as well. There are a few fit issues with the kit, but a bit of care and grinding, it turns out great!
Italeri has AM’s molds. They just striped the kit of some parts, repackaged it, and near doubled the price. They and others may be pricing themselves out of the market! About twelve years ago I purchased a 1/96 USS Constition for a whopping $55. The same kit goes for about $100 today after some additional aging!
I need to thank y’all on this forum for getting me leads on the Doolittle B-25B. Great support. But, I am still looking!
I’ve built two of their B kits and one of them had a lot of fit issues and the other one had minor fit issues. Hopefully the AM B-25G kit I’ve got won’t give me any fit issues like the B kits did, when I get to it.

After seeing videos of a C-130 and U-2 catted off modern carriers, the launch of the B-25’s seems kind of tame. When the C-130 lands and appears to hook the third wire is truly hair raising. I believe both videos date from the 1960’s, google them up for some eye opening moments.
Couldn’t find any videos of the U-2 landing though…
going into a 35 knot head wind, I’n not sure a C130 would really need the catapult to get in the air! A U2 is airborne at 80 mph, so once again going into a 35 knot head wind tells me that it wouldn’t need a catapult as well

My understanding is that the main training for the raid was done at Eglin. The group which provided the source of pilots was transferred to SC before volunteers were requested, as part of the preperations for the raid.
Two B-25Js (“In the Mood” and “Heavenly Body”) took off from the carrier USS Ranger (CV-61) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid in 1992.
