If you “Quick Reply” to a post, you don’t have to go through the double-clicking of the page saying “post successful” page–it seems to put you right back on to the page you left.
You just can’t quote the post in this application.
That’s what I’ve been using for my replies. I only go to the Reply standard if I need to quote…which isn’t something I do often, so it’s dramatically improved the posting and navigation time for sure.
I’ve been finding lots of little things like that as I wander around that make it easier to navigate. Just have to learn the new pathways a bit!
Actually you can “quote” using “Quick Reply”. You just have to do the HTML coding “by hand”.
[ quote ] & [ /quote ] (without the spaces, of course) begin and end the quote. Like this:
But that doesn’t reference WHO posted that, and you can put anything in “quotes”, such as cut and pastes from articles. I use it whenever I need someone to understand that the words in “quotes” are not mine.
To identify the user you have to add [ quote user=“wbill76” ] to the beginning, like this:
One “gotcha” with the Quick Reply is you can’t post URLs directly and still have to use the “Link” button. The nice thing about posting on the new forums is the ability to hot link URLs directly. Certainly not a show stopper!
