Yesterday, I was paining the wood on a shovel glued to the side of my 1/72 scale german Command-Vagon, vehicle (can’t… remember… name![D)][oops]… ) when I got too much brown on the grey. So, I repainted, and waited for paint to dry. Then I did it again![V]. Ok… repainted. ooo WHAT’s THIS!!! AGAIN!!![:(!][soapbox][soapbox] well, I retouched it so now, it’s finished and looks great, except for a bump near the shovel where an extra 5 layers of paint were applied…[xx(]
perhaps paint the shovel first and then glue it onto the tank? but yeh, redundant fixes suck.
I usually do that, but on something so small, it’s easy for the glue to show on the edges.[sigh]
On my Marder, I broke the left side pole that holds up the tarp about a dozen times. Of course it broke in the middle. I glued it back , fixed it and kept breaking it off. I should have left it off until I was finished. It looks crappy now.
Another thing I hate is travelling to model competitions. All those stupid antennaes break off. So I carry extra glue and stuff in case!
A while ago, a kid touched the antennae from by bradley; broke off and hasn’t looked the same[V]
Yeah, I like to put everything on first and paint later, so I know what you went through!
I’m lucky enough to have a pretty steady painting hand, but I also cut thin card stock to use as little hand-held masks when painting really close bits. Works like a charm!
Excellent idea! Thanks for the tip!
i finished a 1:72 matilda 2, painted, weathered, put on the dull-coat, glued on the antenna. show it to my girlfriend. first thing she does is go “twang” to the antenna.
