I went to my local Hobby store, along with Hobby Lobby, looking for Flat Black. I was wanting to specifically buy Tamiya’s XF-1 Flat Black, but after some searching, just any flat black will do.
Surprisingly, there were no Flat Blacks that I have found (XF-1 ran out). Fortunately and unfortunately, I have flat black, except it is one of those cheap arts and crafts acrylic paints.
Sorry for the potato image. Don’t mind the remote. It’s DecoArt paint I bought from Michael’s. Will it suffice?
Most of my flat paints are craft paint or Vallejo. I probably have 50 or more flats in various craft paint brands that I use. DecoArt is actually a quality craft paint but it doesn’t like alcohol for thinning just so you know that. If you’re airbrushing it it takes a bit of airbrush medium, water and retarder to do it well. Water will sort of work. It will brush paint with just some water to cut it but even better with some retarder added.
I can go on and on about craft paint use but will end there, I know you’re in a rush.
