Does this exist?

I know y’all are probably tired of me asking if a particular kit exists, and I have been trying to look on other sites for the answer but this ones got me stumped. I now need to find a kit of the C-37A Gulfstream V. I added this to my list this morning when one flew into Dyess. I got the SN as it flew over my head and I have this web site I go to to identify planes by there SN. So now I get t o add it to my list and want wish!!

Only Gulfstream I know of is the IV, by Welsh Models, 1/144…

The closest I know of is a C-20 being done by Collectaire (sp?). This would be a G-IV SP. You could convert a C-20 to a C-37 with some scratchbuilding. The best thing is this kit will be in 1/48, so it should be fairly large. It’s supposed to be released in 2004 sometime.

The conversion can’t be that hard can it? All I would have to do is add eight feet to the fuselage and stretch the wings by 2ft. I’ve decided to try vacuu forms once more and hope they’re better than the last one I did!!!(C-141A in 1/72, the plastic was so thin you could almost see through it)

Pretty much. I did interior engineering for Gulfstram for several years so I was around them. Let me try and think of as much as I can between the two:

GV does not have windscreen wipers while the GIV does.

GV has painted smooth thrust reversers while those on the GIV were polished stainless. Also, the GIV reversers had the pivot mechanism on the outside on the deflector. This produced the humps on the reversers. I guess they could be shaved off for the GV.

Late GV also had the EVS system onboard. As a result, there is a window for the system on the bottom of the radome. Actually, I don’t know if any of the C-37A’s had this. I know none of the current C-20’s have it.

The top section of the verticle fin on a GV is larger than the GIV to hold more equipment. However, again, latter GIV’s were retrofitted with a larger unit to house much of the same equipment.

Tha’t all I can think of at the moment. And if you are still thinking of doing this, the extra fuselage length of a GV is added between the windscreen and the airstair door.

Thanks for the assistance. What do you know about the wings? I have found five references and six different listings asto the length of the wing!! one I threw out listed the wingspan tip to tip at sixty feet!! [%-)]

I’m not at home at the moment where I could look into that. I’ll TRY to remember to do that tonight or this weekend sometime and let you know. I really don’t know where the difference in wingspan between the two occurs. I’ll find out though.

There are vast differences between the IV and V.
The engines are the same as the ones on the Boeing 717.
Her max altitude in 50k+ ft so you can believe it has a massive span.
You only notice how really different they are when you see them parked side by side
(I am looking at one now - a V that is)

Yea, the stretched fuselage and the different engine housings are the marked differences. And you’re right…it is the same engine on a 717. [:)]

You know whats really bad? I didn’t even know the AF used Gulfstreams. I thought that was what they bought the Learjet for(C-21)!!! How do I get to be made a General? seriously though, if I hadn’t got the SN I would have never known what it was. There was a lot of “unusual” traffic yesterday at the base and I spent about six hours out there yesterday and if I can manage it I’ll do it again today. BTW we also had an Alaska C-130H (AK tail code) a USAF H-60, I’m not sure what mark as I’m used to Army machines, and we had more than the usual Bone flights. Including one that went over my head at about 100 ft with full AB. My ears still hurt!!
