Does the Iwata Eclipse have solvent resistant seals ?

Does anybody know if the Iwata Eclipse have solvent resistant seals ?

I am not sure about the Eclipse BCS but the BS and CS models do not have solvent resistant needle bearings. They can be upgraded to Teflon bearings for about $15 more from Coast Airbrush.

Actually Mike they do. I called Coast and they told me that they were solvent resistant but not solvent proof. I’ve since sent my HP-CS to them for the teflon Upgrade which is “solvent proof” guaranteed for the life of the airbrush.

I knew they could handle most solvents alright but I was unaware whether they were “solvent resistant” or “solvent proof.” [:D]

where are the seals? I only noticed the rubber “o” ring. Are there others near the tip. I have an Iwata Ecilpse BCS

The one we are talking about is the needle bearing which is between the siphon tube and the trigger in the airbrush body. They have to be replaced with a special tool that removes and installs them.

cool, thanks. As a first time Iwata owner, how would I know it’s time for replacement?

I forgot to mention that you don’t have to worry because I don’t believe the HP-BCS siphon-feed Eclipse you have has a needle bearing, unless I am mistaken.
I know that the Omni 3000 does not have one, although the Omni 4000, 5000 and 6000 do.

I have a HP-BCS as well and MikeV is correct, the BCS doesn’t have nor require the needle bearing.

Hi, i know this is a verry old conversation, but i just fell on it looking for infos on my hp-bcs. I am wondering if it is ok for me to sink it in thinner to clean it up … i use urethanes and basecoats in it, i know its ok for me to juste let the thinner flow in it for a light clean up, but … you know … can i sink it in thinner ? …

No, not without removing the air valve. Take that out and be sure to remove the orings and have at it.

Hi, i forgot to mention this airbrush is a HP-BCS, doesn’t have a removable air valve … this is actually why i am not sure if i can soak it in thinner … because i don’T know if there is a oring inside the valve that could be dammaged by the solvent … :stuck_out_tongue:
