Does anyone make ....?

Hi. Just got asked a curious question by a friend. Does anyone make a turned metal barrel that would fit the AFV Club M40? The barrel in the kit is great but my friend was wondering if one was available that was the entire length from tip to breech and the proper length? Just curious.

The only thing even close is Barrel Depot’s M1917 155mm barrel, which I don’t think would work. No one that I know of makes barrels that include metal breech sections.

Wotcher mate!

Comments on the M40 from T26E4 & Heavy Arty apply here, especially about the length of barrel!

Follow the links listed above for pix & build info.

Unless any replacement corrects the ‘shortfall’ as detailed above, it would be pointless, as the front 1/2 of kit is already aluminium.

I’ve built the M12 155mm, with the Barrel Depot (BD) ally barrel, replacing the all-plastic kit barrel.

Points to note (about the M12) are:
The BD was exactly the same length as the plastic, but with sharper definition to the ‘steps’ Can’t remember if those steps were in the same place, though…
It did NOT include the breech ring, but BD fitted the kit breech ring well.
It did NOT include the barrel ‘slides’, which connect it to the ‘trough’, so surgery was needed to take them from the plastic to add to the ally barrel.

The method outlined by Heavy Arty, curtesy missing-Lynx, looks to be the easiest, (so far) but your milage may vary…

BTW, does anyone make a barrel for this yet?
