I’ve had this kit for over a year now, and having painted the top, and not having the color come out right, then the horrable masking job I did letting the paint blead thought. Then on top of that having problems with not filling and sanding seems, I decided to sand the paint off the area’s I painted and start over, then along with other problems I made up my mind and starting the kit over.
I just have few questions,
Does anyone make a masking kit for this 1/48 Heinkel He?
Thank you Summit for your info, I am thinking about buying an extra Canopy set. I did take the paint off the front two canopy, but having soaked them in paint thinner that wasn’t clear let them a bit dirty. The other thing is most of the machine guns broke off to, I’ll have to find a way to replace them some how.
Broken guns / missing guns I have seen that more times then I have needed to. I have repaired / replaced many a guns with (1) small stripped out wire,(2) electrical wire with the insulation still on, with the insulation pulled over the wire just a bit to give that hollow barrel look (3) stretched sprue . A lot of guys use Hypodermic needle tubing also.
The He-111 is my most favorite medium bomber. [tup] Ive got a pile of the old Airfix 1/72 hidden away.
How is the 1/48 Revell /Mono kit ? I have been thinking of picking a few up …[:P]
Sean The R-M 111 is not bad. The wingroots need attention to get them right. I built a 1/48 He111Z about 12 years ago using 2 111’s and a solid resin center wing. One of my cats knocked it off the shelf. I will rebuild it have all the parts. but it is huge.
Tempest, I’ve always thought the 111’s joined together looked weird and neat at the same time. Just wish Monogram didn’t discontinued the 1/48 Heinkel He models. I was lucky finding my at my LHS for 38$ dollars.
Sean, I do have some wire that is the same size as the machine gun’s. The hard thing is getting them stright.
Heres the V-1 that is with the kit, the right wing broke off. I tryed glueing it on but didn’t work out well.
A really easy way to get wire straight - I use a pair of tweezers with a flat handle and use that handle flat to roll across the wire while I am rolling the wire also on a solid surface. (cutting mat works) I know it is hard to picture in your mind but experiment with it and you will most likely get the hang of it.
John - wow that is a monster ! What was the wingspan on that ? I have a 1/72 Zwilling I need to build for the GIGANT I am building in spare time. Too bad your cat did a number to it. If you decide you dont want to mess with it let me know, I have hundreds of kits that need to be built. [:-^]
Ok I will have to try that out. Oh and I want to get set of canopy peices, but don’t know if # SQ9622 is what I want to get? Or SQ9621? they don’t have a picture of all comes with it. What I need to replace the four window sides, two ventral windows, two gondola windows, gondola canopy, and both front canopy, and over head canopy, If I can.
You’ll need both sets- one has the main canopy- and it’s the one for the late version, too, so you’ll be good there. The other set has all the options for the lower gondola- you’ll need them too. Bear in mind that you’ll have to cut the kit nose piece in half along the upper/lower line between the flat panes/curved panes. Hope this helps!
