I am interested in the idea of converting an airfix Buccaneer into an S1 variant. Has anyone heard of conversion parts, or maybe seen a magazine article that might be helpful?
This isn’t much help, but I’m almost positive I have seen such a thing recently, in 1:72 resin. Have you checked Hannant’s or Cutting Edge?

You can see the difference between the intakes here

This is a 1/48 project and I can see the difference with plans or by standing camera in hand between S1 and S2 at Yeovilton. Hannants list nothing but I couldn’t face the idea of spending six months scratch building a fuselage only for someone to point out the commercial availability of the parts I need after I finish.
This has happened to a friend of mine recently.
We started scratch building a spit T IX, then Brigade brought out their kit.
You will be lucky if you can find an S1 conversion
Good Luck!
Well if I can’t then I will explore the route of vac-forming my own, but I’m not keen to say the least.
I was researching about the Bucc too and, as I know, there is no conversion set for the S1 version…Heritage Aviation make a correction set for the intakes but it is for the S2 version…I remember seeing an article (on Aricraft Resouce Center, if I not wrong) from a guy that scratchbuilt the S1 based on the Airfix kit…Hope it hepls…
