Does anyone have a single spare front tire for a 1/48th scale C-130 Hercules.

Does anyone have a single spare front tire for a 1/48th scale C-130 Hercules.
Well I thought I would ask the public at large and then tell you about my project.

[angel] First this will be a L.A.P.E.s (that’s Low Altitude Parachute Extraction) aircraft, flying at about three to five feet above the ground, at the exact moment a parachute is pulling a float holding a jeep and a howitzer plus spare ammo are just about free of the aircraft. The flaps are lowered, the rear stabilizers are in the correct position, the props are spinning (or at least they will be in the spinning postition), the gear is lowered. There will be people running from out of the grass to get it as well.

The whole thing will be about 4 feet long from front to back, [banghead] I need a single spare front tire for the 1/48th scale C-130 Hercules.[#oops]

Right now this is a work definitly in progress.

I don’t have a spare one but, I have an old AC-130 that I think is going to end up in the trash. I will give you both front wheels if you like. Just let me know.

That sounds like an exciting diorama. I can recall watching the LAPES project as it was being developed at Dyess AFB, Texas in 1964. They had a troop carrier wing there with 3 squadrons of C-130s and a huge open area west of the main runway. Herks were constantly making low altitude passes and yanking things out the back end. That dry, red Texas clay turned into a hugh cloud of dust and then there sat the pallet of whatever.
They also were working on a project of extracting the load by dragging a hook and catching a cable like on Navy carrier landings. That didn’t seem to work as well.

Sounds like a very interesting project. Post some progress pics as you get into it.

Regards, Rick

Didn’t know that you were interested in my work, I have already started the C-130 and it’s about 40% finished, but will send pics soon. Got a bar-b-que to go to tonight so it will probably be next week before they’re on the site. (If I can figure out this whole… picture… process. Lets see, if…)
