hey, any insiders out there know if any of the kit makers are planning on releasing a kit of the dodge durangos any time soon? they seem to be a popular vehicle, would probably sell well?[:)][:)]
HEY,
I think i may have seen one on megahobby.com. Not sure though. Sorry i couldnt help more.
Randy
good enough i’ll check that out. thanks for the reply.
no luck on mega hobby, i 'm not sure if it is even being kitted yet?
Actually I saw one at Micheal’s the last time I was in there. Next time I go by I’ll look again and see who makes it for you. Probally be able to stop in after work tommorow.
thanks cris, ive been wanting one of them for a couple of years. i bought one in 2001, and then traded it in in an '03, really nice vehicle. thanks for checking.any luck yet trying to get those pics posted?
My buddy that has the scanner is on Chicago for work right now so I’ve not been able to get with im yet. He should be back in the next 2 weeks sometime so I can get up with him then.
thats cool, when ever you get the chance, all your help on this is very welcome.just post what you want, it really dont matter that much to me, just try to get my dodge on if you can.
hey cris, read the rest of our thread under heading pic on the way, i posted a question for you on dios, you could probably do a nice dio on this subject since you see it first hand, just an idea since you done such a nice job on your jeep dio.
Yea i have thought of the same thing. The house fire would be the hardest I think. Don’t know hoy fire could be done unless it was a " smoke showing " only situation. The car wreck could be cool. I’ve always wanted to try to do a wrecked car. Have some guys popping a door with the jaws would be a nice touch. As far as 9/11 goes for me it would have to be someting very good that would really honor the brothers we lost that day.
yea your right about the house fire, maybe one could be done that was just put out and maybe the cleanup was just getting under way?
nah I would’nt want to do that, no excitement at that point. By the time clean up comes around all the adrenaline is gone and it’s not a nice sight. Having heavy smoke coming from the roof line or a window or two could work. Not saying thats what we always see, by the time we get there it’s burned through the roof and blazeing good. Maybe have a crosslay or two running in the front door. Of coarse if you do it there is one thing that is the most important part, got to have the white helmet standing and pointing at something, don’t have to be anything important just something.
yea thats what im talking about, always got to have that white helmet pointing that finger. the smoke would be a great idea, any thoughts on how to achive this effect? ive seen people fake tire smoke before and thats what it looks like fake.
I would imagine it would be easier than tire smoke. Tire smoke is thin and semi transparent. Smoke from a burning house is so thick the sun barely shines through it if it is a hot enough fire. Cotton balls fluffed up and painted may work or something along that lines. I think it would be a trial and error deal though. Code 3 collectables has a house scene for thier models that you might take a look at and get some ideas. code3.com
the accident scene would be cool to do. ive tried to do a wrecked car but it ended up looking like crap, i didnt achive the look of a wrecked car, so it ended up in the trash.
I stopped by MIcheals to look for that durange today but did’nt see one. Don’t know if they might have sold it or if I saw something else and just remembered it wrong.
ok thanks for stoping and looking though. ive seen that code 3 house i was going to get it to go with my code 3 stuff, but never got it. i have 15 of there trucks, do you have any(stupid question , huh) i also collect the corgi trucks in the 1/50 scale, i’ve got 10 or so of those. thanks again for checking that durango out for me.
I’ve got a whopping one code 3. It’s one of the small ones I found at a toy store at the local outlet mall. They had one of the big ladders but I just don’t really like the green paint job it has. Of coarse nothing beats the 1:1 that I get to drive and play with frequently.
Go to a town fair and get some cotton candy keep it cold so it wont melt(get diarama outside even better, then spray the cotton candy with a laquer coat to stop rotting and seal it or look up nasa’s web site and they have this new insulation that is lighter than air, looks just like smoke you could attach this but i think it is brittle sao you cant bent it and shape like cottn candy I will try this experiment over the weekend and see how it goes, but the nasa insulation looks exactly like real smoke frozen in time
Sounds pretty cool george, and welcome to the forum. First post and already giving advice. So how does someone come by nasa’s insulation? Is it something available to the public?
