Dodge Chargers ;

Okay what’s all the fuss about ?There were many models of Dodge Chargers made . From 1966 and the intervening years and many stunk in their own right .M.P.C. never seemed to be able to get it just right .

Monogram got it right but in 1/24 . A.M.T got it right , But , you had to be careful .They did the regular topped version and the second smooth back top from Nascar !

Now as far as markings on the cars .If they were Nascar versions they could no longer have beer sponsors on them .They still sold .The only time I saw a model removed from the marketplace was the Unlimited Hydroplanes like " Miss Budweiser " Because of the markings . It was a very small segment of what they marketed . So rather than re-decal it or spend the money to do so , they just stopped making the model . Denying a whole group of modelers a plastic version of their favorite racing boats !

The Charger in Pro - modeler form is a ubiquitous , Vinyl topped version you would see on the street . I have seen a few General Lees too ! The 66 Charger was originally a smooth topped version from A.M.T. The M.P.C. version was the loaded Charger with the vinyl top on it , too !

Plain and simple the Charger was a dodge .Weather based on the Coronet or what . I never saw models of Dodges I wanted so who really cares ?As to the Flag Flap I will let those better equipped to handle it do so . I just want them to leave my models alone ! I still want the unlimited hydros back in anyone’s markings and the John Player special formula one car as well .Most folks in America didn’t even know what John Player was for gosh sakes ! That black car with those fine gold stripes was absolutely awesome to look at .

I guess that means the Starsky and Hutch Torino will go next huh ? Oh well , I can’t help fix it so at my age I will just build what I have and sit by and listen , comment a little here and there . Then when the day comes , you can pry that cold piece of metal from my hands . ( my Zippo ? Perhaps )

Afterthought . When I say Charger I automatically mind - zoom to the first Charger I ever owned a Top Rung ( yeah , vinyl top and all ) 67 Charger . Now that one was one sexy beast !

Actually, I would prefer to build a Revell 1968 Dodge Charger and paint it black per the car in Bullitt…[^o)]

that would be a sweet build.

I’m kinda sorry I was too young to buy one at the time.
Gotta spend my money elsewhere these days, so a Revell kit will hafta do.[:P]

When the buying frenzy has subsided and there’s nary a General Lee in sight…

There’s always “The General” [;)][whstl]

Wow! If you could do the guy leaning out with the shotgun, that would be super sweet

The Dukes of Hazzard Dodge Monoco police car included a shotgun with the rest of the weapons, though I haven’t checked to see if it is as poorly molded as the M-16[^o)]

I did just that S.G. ;

Then I built another in Real Turbine Bronze Metallic with a Black Vinyl Top !

Ya Know S.G. ;

That is my most requested rail-road Model , And boy are they scarce !

No longer a need to search very hard for a 1/25 General steam engine.
Round Two models is re-issuing the kit. YAYYYY ! [:P]

The website says the kit release was June…
…no more hobby shops so I am hoping Hobby Lobby or Michaels carry it.

Cool ;

I definitely will have to start looking . maybe acquire four or five . I just hope it’s not to expensive .

I check Hobby Lobby and Michaels occasionally.

Both have 40 pct off coupons on their websites

Yeah :

My landlady always brings me one . Every week !

The new Dodge “Charger” is not a Charger at all. Call it what you want, but it’s some bloated, squarish, overweight, ugly blob of steel to which the misnomer “Charger” has been applied, most likely in some hallucinatory or drunken office-party haze. An absolute embarrassment to the name and the legacy.

Ouch… I like that car…

Id rather have the SRT dodgeChallenger Hellcat than the new Charger. The Hellcat looks a whole lot meaner, sexier, and bad ass than the Charger. Oh yeah, it looks fast too!

I completely agree with you Black Sheep, but, I can only afford a Charger. Well, a V6 Charger!

Really?? Man, it can’t hold a candle to the car that holds the true title! At least the new Mustangs actually resembled the original. The new “Charger” just doesn’t even look anything like its namesake.

I offer you the comparison.

Or wait…let me put it another way… lol. I mean, seriously…[:D]

I take the new Charger for what it is… A grocery getter that offers a guy like myself a little bit of performance. Is it a far cry form the original Charger, definitely. Would I prefer an original charger to a new, definitely. But, I still like the car…

Yeah I’m sure it’s an impressive car under the hood. I really am miffed by the styling of it though. I honestly believe that they should have named it something different and made a new line rather than to just graft the vaunted “Charger” name on it. I mean, when Charger came out, it was all about that “fuselage” shape. It was a trend-setter and groundbreaker and one of the most beautiful cars ever made, IMO. :slight_smile:

The very first time I saw the “new Charger”, I almost blew a gasket, lol.
